To address OP better, since youve played a game in the series and also like the medieval period. I could reasonably say you @kn3ch7 would probably enjoy MKW. At $10 i say give it a shot.

Though i urge you read my other post on the topic.

Yes, for $10 it is worth it.

I have about 300 hours in this game; am still enjoying it. When it starts to get tedious, then I go and play Empire Total War for awhile. Each change that the devs produce adds new features which make the game more interesting. There are more than a dozen Steam achievements, some of which are pretty hard. I've been playing on VH/VH from the get-go, and have played England several times back when you could choose only to play a kingdom; then a couple of different English lords, a couple of Castillian lords, a Scottish lord, and an Austrian lord.

Depends how anal-retentive you are about historical accuracy. The gameplay is... solid. Especially for early access. It's OK in its current form i would say. Worth $20? Depends on your outlook. If youre not bent out of shape about small inaccuracies and you like the genre, then probably. If youre new to RTS or strategy in general, and dont really like the medieval period, OR you require a higher standard of polish, then i would say no. If youre somewhere in the middle then $10 is far from highway robbery. The games definitely worth $10 or $20. After that it's just a matter of your own personal taste.

I wrote this in the forums in lieu of a review. It outlines most of MY issues with the game currently.

I have read your posts in this thread and others, and agree with many of your points. However, historical & geographical accuracy are really not that important to me. What's important to me is a fun game that I can eventually become good at.

I do like Medieval-2 TW, and I like Rome TW, but like Empire TW the best. Napoleon TW is OK, but after you've played all the campaigns then it loses interest.

I got pretty good at some of the Rome TW mods, but got rather tired of being castigated by forum members for not forming my legions "just so" -- as these legions were formed in Roman times. Why should I care when my archer-rich legions were devastating?

So, yeah, MKW is a total bargain at the $10 sale price; well worth the $20 asking price.

May I ask, can you build your own castles like in Stronghold ? I am looking for some game like Stronghold where I can build my own castles but not sure this game allows it :( ?

Nope; you can't build your own castles. You can only build the pre-programmed buildings and then upgrade them.

@kn3ch7 I see you bought it and played a bit. What's your opinion?
Zim B7 May 23, 2018 @ 11:42pm
@Gov't Vult
considering my first impression, wouldn't recommend it for buying as for now
mb when I dive deeper into battle mechanics, diplomacy, sieges and economy, I'll be able to describe pros and cons in more details
------------------
battle control - is not responsive. For example you can waste 10 minutes trying to place archers on tower, or trying to hide unit behind mantlet (siege shield). To much time wasted and tactical advence may be lost or you can not make fast maneuver
graphics - too much blurring, edging and sharpening with low unit modeling
preprogrammed building except of tents (local ziggurats)
------------------
also I haven't found coop as it was announced
I expected online game like kw1 but it is singleplayer with built-in chat
------------------
but nevertheless I will not refund it
