Open discussion regarding the length of episode 1
!Disclaimer!
This is a open discussion, we all have our ownopinions which is fine. I simply want to start a discussion, because I felt dissapointed after episode 1.
!Disclaimer!

Once I had completed the first episode, i kind a sat with a "ehh, already" feeling. According to steam, it took me 2 hours to complete the eiposde. But if I take out all the time I was afk, or I had problems with the crime scenes (yes, i know it is amazing how someone could get stuck on those) would I estimate it took me about 1-1,15 hours.

I know that there will be more episodes so I decided to figure out, how much game time i would have.

There are 5 episodes and I'm gonna assume they take around the same time to complete. But for the sake of the experiment, I will assume each episode take 1,5 hours. That will be around 7,5 hours. The game costs 22.99€ on steam.

I personally think, the game length is a bit to short, compared to the asking price. But this is just mu opinion. Therefore i would like to ask you guys and girls, what your thoughts are on this subject.

this isnt your first telltale game, the episodes are always around 75-120 minutes long.
the price for that is perfectly fine for me as long as i had fun, and i always have with telltale games

Telltale Games are purely centered around the story. I'd rather have a shorter, better story than one that was artificially made longer.

Although the last episodes typically are a bit longer.

Even for a Telltale game (and I've played quite a few), this episode 1 was pretty damn short.

Hopefully the episodes will get longer, with more interactive stuff, as the series goes on. The first episode of most things is usually focused on establishing the story and easing you into the world (Gotta establish Tom and Martha's murder for the 13 billionth time)

I can see the point you are making, but if i try to think back to TWD games, I felt like they were longer. But I also prefer a well polished episode, than a long boring one. I just fell like the episode oculd have been maybe 20-30 min. longer while still being polished :)

As a pretty hardcore batman fan I felt like a lot of the first episode was only information that i knew beforehand. But I can still see how new people needs to get fully into the story. And i must admit that i felt the story was well-made and I personally can't wait for the next episodes. On the other hand, I just fell like the first episode could have some more action/options, it could for example be a second crime scene investegation. Or they could make different entry ways into the skyline building, or even offer different ways to knock out the guards :)

Looked at the length of all my Telltale games and this one is similar. Took me 4 hours. Episodes from other games ranged from 2.5 to 4 hours so this one is good so far. Wolf was really short at 9 hours for the whole thing and Tales from the Borderlands was 16 hours for 5 eps. Haven't got far in Game of Thrones because the Quicktime events are so unforgiving. Quicktime is working much better in Batman and missing a keystroke doesn't end in your instant death. So, happy with the length.
Since the game is starting really early in the saga anyone familiar with Batman will know much of it. I still enjoy seeing a slightly different take on it and the ending of ep 1 seems to indicate that plot twists are on the way. Batman has been reinvented more than once so I'm looking forward to seeing what Telltale will do with it.
