How do I exit the codex??

You can't. Literally the first non-QTE thing you can do in the game is a game-breaking bug. Astonishing work yet again from Telltale.

I have the same problem. I just exit to the main menu, and hope it saved right before.

I'm having the same problem, zooms right in after checking it and won't zoom back out no matter which button I press....

Exit and continue from the main menu, I just started that point again and ignored the codex, game seems to be going again ok now

I did the same... But I just had my 2nd crash...

Same issue, pretty disappointing.

I also had the same problem with exiting from the Codex. I exited to the main menu and continued Epise One without reading the Codex again.

Yep same problem with me, had to exit game and reload to get past it, gotta laugh that the mighty Batman was foiled by his own codex.
