I cannot use the feather duster! Is there a fix for this? If not I cannot finish the game I guess

Clicking "unlock now" just has it spin forever. I waited 20 minutes and nothing happened. Without unlocking, I can only play a few scenes. Moreover, I'm unpleasantly surprised that a Steam purchase does not immediately unlock the full the game. Have I been scammed?...

I used the key to open the center gate. I used the trowel to remove the dirt from the fountain basin. I then used the glued pipe to the place where the fountain’s missing a pipe part. Now I'm trying to use the wrench to open the faucet for the fountain but it won't work, as if I was missing something. There's no way to go back or reset the puzzle I believe. Do I have to restart from the beginning and hope for the best ?...
