Good profit chains?
After playing around for a little bit, it seems profit on traditional farming is rather low/slow, especially compared to the setup costs.

On the other hand, I've found less traditional farming with windmills and beekeeping are very profitable and require little setup.

I've only explored a few crops and animals so far, and only basic production (no cheeses or juices yet).

I'm curious, what production chains have people been trying, and are they profitable? Do you simply need to scale up before the profit really shows up?

Orchards have the highest payout so far. Cereals don't pay well at all.

pigs or cows-slaughterhouse best huge profits.
raspberry,fresh huge money.
cheese is okay but you have to build a cool storage which is expensive so I would build a slaughterhouse.Just tried juices looka like they give double of imput money wise.

Great information -- thanks for sharing guys!

From another discussion myself and another fellow had them nerf tomatoes and peppers - were way too profitable. It wasn't in the patch notes, so I presume cucumbers are still a big money maker as far as traditional crops go.

I find Peppers are by far the best. The sell for loads and you can get 3 harvests from a single crop in summer.

I'm going to have to test it, but I figured they would have been nerfed across the board. The yield was reduced by 80% in the patch.

Tomatoes are pretty good income in the tutorial. Helped me get out of just making it by. Raspberries are being pretty fickle for me. I'm sure if I just use a greenhouse they'll be more consistent.

please keep in mind i didnt wrote down any exact numbers nether i watched the best "selling" prices but what i can say before pepper&tomato nerf -->

1 glashouse: Pepper -> ~14k profit every 46 days
Tomatoes -> ~14k every 42 days
Strwaberrys -> ~4k every 24 days
cucumbers-> 8k in 72 days i think

after the patch i cant see regrowth time but it seems to be still above 1 month for tomatoes&peppers but the profit is just ~4k -4,5k per harvest so ya...

i cant say i like the nerf because in campaign u havent much too play with like slaughterhouse etc at start .. .so i guess i start a "windpark" instead of bother with the whole "farming" thing for a while or should i say before they get nerfed or "balanced" we will see

Ps : and yes peppers& tomatoes in perspective to other crops, they were too profitable

Odd. I can see the regrowth time and tomatoes and strawberries are about the same in terms of time. The profit for both above mentioned have been halved.

Apples are good source of profit and food source for cows. I don't have the exact figures in my head atm.

The patch reduced peppers by 80% and tomatoes by 67%. Cucumbers / strawberries is where it is at now. The difference with cucumbers is that they have to go through the replanting business.

Figures are for a 20 x 10 plot (greenhouse)

702 peppers
44 day cycle

323 strawberry
25 day cycle

1684 tomato
38 day cycle

2187 CABBAGE
have to replant (didn't write down growth time before patch)

6415 cucumber
have to replant (didn't write down growth time before patch)

3712 pumpkin
have to replant 90 days to maturity

2363 potato
have to replant 120 days to maturity

Peppers are no longer feasible and actually lose you money.

If the above number of yield are indeed the nerfed ones, pepper got hit very hard. Especialy as they sell just a little higher as tomatoes on the market but have a longer growig time. At least with those number I expect that the harvesting cycle is a lot faster then the tomatoes. Before nerf 3 workers needed almost half a month to harvest all my tomatoes out of a greenhouse. After the nerf they need almost 3 times less time.

Yea just trying a new game as I was interested to see what happens after the update with peppers.

5 x greenhouses
6 x staff (wages of 520 ish average - (May cut to 3))

- 1700(ish) p/m
