ugly characters?
Why is every single character in this game the ugliest dog faced mutant, i have to scroll through at least 30 or 40 randomizes before i can get a playable character that even remotely resembles a human and not some E.T creature

They took a example from your mirror image.:steamhappy:

They took like 3 pictures of each model and then stretched the 2D photos over the same 3D head used for all characters in the game.

So you can clearly see that some of the women are pretty in RL, but in the game it looks weird and unnatural.

I use the community editor from https://www.nexusmods.com/stateofdecay2/mods/45 to change survivor visuals when they bug me.

Because the virus in this game made sure to target/infect beautiful people first and made them into fugly zombies. :lunar2019coolpig:
believe it or not this is one of the beta tests for DEI inside of a video game

They did a casting call and scanned the 100 randoms that showed up. then jammed all the faces on the same skull.

Thats why theres a sloght Xenobite effect.

Theres also a couple people that were employees or friends. Like I believe the bounty broker is a local gun shop guy the dev goes to.

Lol. Made me giggle.

Whichever one you pick they're all going to be a bit average looking in game. I started off with 3 women who looked quite good-looking in their profile pictures but then in game they looked like crazy ex-cons!

I have two quite good looking (male) survivors in my settlement and that's about it.

No pasa nada porque los editas con el “Community Manager”. Ahí te construís tu tus sobrevivientes ideales.

I spend ages scrolling through characters to get the face and voice I want. Two of the tutorial characters have the faces and voices I like so I play the tutorial over and over whenever I need a new character. But for the third voice I have to just keep trying them out.

It would be great if you could just pick the face, hair and voice you want. Is that asking too much?

I've noticed one or two of the faces in the Heartland campaign look much better. I wish they were available for the base game.

Edit: Weirdly, I've noticed I can't get the voice I want anymore, no matter how many times I try. Its like the voice has been removed from the game. Would they do that for some reason?

You could take a look at a mod called "community manager".

You can change the face and the voice youself.
Very simple mod, no fuzz.

just start a new game, get the traits you like (although you can change them too in the mod), and then quit (after a save) and open the mod, change every character to the one you like.
