Is the multiplayer dead?

I mean, I can't even host my world for my friend to join. With the last update did they also turned off multiplayer completely?

You both should be friends in Windows live account,, only after this your friend can join using Steam, also open the game for friends in settings.

Multiplayer works just fine in the game.

You have to add each other as friends on both your and your friends Xbox/Microsoft account. It's not enough just being friends on steam.

The game is also closed off to multiplayer as default. So you have to go into the settings and open up multiplayer to be able to invite your friend into your game.

Yes I know, that is what I am trying to do, but whenever I enable multiplayer, it shows an error about not having being able to verify my credentials

What does the error say, exactly?

make sure windows updates doesnt have anything pending. and check for updates in the MS store. Specifically Xbox and "Gaming Services", but really anything else

I can't remember who suggested it, the reply is gone, but logging out and back in fixed it. So I can no longer see the error, but it said something like "account privilege could not be veryfied, please check your internet"

Good that you got the multiplayer working!

When I played coop with one of my friends he had the same problem a couple of times. That a message popped up with something about "account privilege". The thing my friend had to do though is just shut down the game, wait a couple of seconds, and then he started up the game again.

My friend just left the game running even though he wasn't at the computer. So I think the game had been running for many hours. And I have noticed that the game is programmed a little wonky.
For example I might have been playing for 4 hours (singleplayer) and then a friend ask if he can join. It has happened that I get that "account privilege" message also so I couldn't open up my game for multiplayer. But it would work if I shut down the whole game, wait 10 seconds, and then start up the game again. After that I could open up the game for multiplayer just fine.
