Question about waking Plague Hearts on Lethal
Every time I awaken my first plague heart, then destroy it, it always wakes up others around it, rather than creating an environment where every Plague Heart is once again dormant. My question is: Does destroying a plague heart always wake up others, OR does destroying a plague heart only succeed in waking up every dormant plague heart that is within its radius?

My understanding is destroying an active plague heart wakes up any dormant heart that crosses into it's radius.

So hopefully you can like, destroy a cluster, to once again create a circumstance where every remaining plague heart is dormant for a time, and not get harassed by constant infestation hordes

ngl this sounds like a fun mechanic. currently my hearts are separated enough that when i kill a heart nothing wakes and i only have one "awake" heart at a time. Basically the whole dynamic with sieges and infestations doesn't exist in my lethal playthrough

Right on I just killed my first heart, and it didn't wake any others because it wasn't in range of any others. I'm glad they did it this way, it'd be really unfair if they always woke another heart one after another after the first one

I've sinced played a few hours (today) and the infestations became a bit more consistent. You can kind of see them forming as you drive along in plague zones i think. it's a pretty cool concept! tragically i don't think anyone will ever be sieged now. it's so easy to avoid

Yeah it is easy to avoid, but only for those of us who are adept at eliminating plague hearts that have woken up. When I first started playing this game I turtled in my base so hard because I couldn't kill a plague heart lol
the Siege infestations, and maybe normal infestations, probably need a zone of control similar to the outposts (plague heart extensions or something).

I just watched a set of infestations get close to my base and make siege locations. great, time to fight because there's a big mass there.

Dumped a low level outpost and slapped down a brand new one that covered my based and the siege infestation. Hit the mine button.

All zombies, including Jugs, instaexplode. Siege over. This preventative method only cost a little, but it did a lot. Also lasts 3hrs on Nightmare.

In a similar vein, the outpost defenses should probably scale in size and damage with Outpost levels.

Level 1: send a survivor to rifle cover for a bit. Doesn't kill Juggies or helmeted ferals. Slow as usual, just like a watchtower, and with short range. Probably adds a nice spot on the roof to shoot from.

Level 2: Better rifle, better range. Now with lures. (allow more choices like fireworks).

Level 3: Same as 2, but add the mines on a much slower explody timer. Better lures.

If you get a radio tower as an outpost there is a mechanic you can activate to suppress plague hearts so that while the suppression is active no action other than directly attacking a plague heart will wake it. This can be used to prevent plague hearts from waking when attacking other hearts.
