Project Zomboid has all the looting and exploration, and sort of base/home building as well. It has extreme micromanagement, though - tough as hell and not as easy to get into as SoD.
They Are Billions is more of a strategy game, tower defense. But also exploration. It isalso insanely difficult at the highest difficulties.
If you play, expect your first run to be alot of screwing things up and learning how everything works. The base building uses prebuilt buildings but the recruitment, base management and so on is absolutely amazing. RElationships, hunger, cold, fear it all plays in. Also, just do custom and turn down or off "invisible strain" zombies on your first run. You dont have to but they are instadeath. Theres three lowers strains so you arent taking that away.
