Can't finish legacy. Game ALWAYS crash.

What the heck is going on? Second time now, first with Builder, now with Trader. Last cutscene plays, then crash. I did backup my save this time around, but same result, crash. Very disappointing really. Also already tried verifying the files, still the same.

Have you messed around with your characters in the Community Editor?

I know I have read several threads where people had the game crashing when they were trying to finish the legacy. And one thing that helped several people were that people had changed voices for characters and that it worked again when they changed voices back to the original voice that the character had.

Otherwise Disable/Inactivate/Uninstall all mods. And after that move the whole SOD2 save folder to a temporary place. Start up the game and the game should download your saves from the cloud. Play around a little in the game and see if it works.

Never used a single mod. Dunno why this is happening, and twice already, guess no boons or legacy pool for me. It's alright, I will move on to another game.

Okay if you never used the Community Editor or any mods then I would still move the whole State of Decay 2 folder to a temporary place.

There might be some corrupt files in there that crash your game and if you move that folder then the game will download your save files from the cloud. Then I would test beating the legacy again.

This has never happened to me, but the first thing I'd try is to set all graphic settings to the minimum.

Nope. crashed. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, I gave up on this one. But already got my money's worth of it, so no biggie.

Sometimes I have same problem, and I had it before installating some mods. Game also crashes sometimes during normal gameplay. Before legacy I: "Exit to the main menu", and play campaign again. and it helps.
Probably, all of it is because of my bad laptop, but maybe it will help you to.

I run this without any issues at all on max settings, doubt it has anything do with my machine. It never crashed on any other occasions besides ending the legacy. I tried even reinstalling. Also started playing after the latest patch. Searching the forums I could see folks with the same issue, and apparently no fix. This is the most recent:

This is a known issue that might have re-emerged after the last update (there are always recurring issues after an update).

There is a problem where the cutscene crashes because there are no voice lines in the cutscene for some characters.

Downloading the Community Editor and swapping your leader's voice for another might solve the issue.

Or it might be something else...

i had the exact same issue last night, also no MOD installed whatsoever, did you find a fix?

Luckily i did a backup save before doing the final mission, now my plan is not doing the final legacy mission instead move to another new map, clear all hearts and try it there, if it doesnt work i might try promote another leader, if still dont work then idk.....

The solution is literally in the message above. The problem is as old as the world, it has never been fixed. There are voices that cause the game to crash.

Yeah i saw it earlier and promoted another leader but i dont wanna do legacy missions since it was standard difficulty, so the legacy boon cant be used for higher. My plan is to loot everything --> move to a new map with at least nightmare difficulty --> get the legacy boon there. Hope this works

Nope, tried every suggestion on this discussion, nothing worked. I already uninstalled the game and moved on. Very serious bug that was left behind without a fix.

that sucks sorry man. I saw another "fix" on some other forum that somebody confirmed it works so maybe worth a try if u ever feel like it: You have to open a new save in order to unlock the boon, but the problem is you lost everything you have. So to minimize losses, pack all the valueables/resources and put all your men in legacy pool and start a new save with them, the biggest loss is maybe all the vehicles i assume.

No you dont need to there is a “send to legacy pool" button in the bottom right corner under the community tab (2nd tab) i just tried it too. But i also found in the new save you only get to choose 3 ppl as starter so that sucks ass
