How do I claim a site?

It says site not secure, destroy the plague heart. How do I do this? I'm brand new to the game. I killed all zombies in the area and I don't see any "plague hearts".

their well be a house with a tear drop skull on it. You have to go to that house and find a mass inside it well be all red and creepy looking and kill it. Once you are done with that the area that you are in is free of it.

Plague heart block you from taking ownership not only at bases but all other buildings in the area of the plague heart.

so what your saying sadly is you didn't read any of the pop ups that showed up... sadly this isnt a game problem.. The game told you what to do you just didn't read it. You have to find the Source of the blood plague in that area. They even showed you with a img pop up what it looks like. Read all info the game gives you don't just click off it cause you think you know better lol. IN every single area their well be a "tear drop skull icon on a building" That is where the heart is go in find the big red skull looking mass. shot it tell it blows up and BOOM you can take over the places only in that area. you have to clear the map out at some point but its all the same.

The site is not secure until you check every room for zeds so when you hear this it means there may be zeds present. Secure sites are also stated so pay attention to all audio. You can claim any potential outpost location when the site is clear and not in plague heart turf.

Plague hearts all start out sleeping and control the territory they occupy. You get audio & visual signals entering plague turf and your primary goal is to not awaken the heart by killing zeds on their turf. Snuff zeds in stealth when operating on their soil otherwise the kill counter stacks if your standing up or hitting them with car. Your goal is to snuff the hearts to prevent the heart from spawning more zeds anytime it awakens.

Your map locations are revealed by recon. Heart locations and structures are all identified so you can plan your strategy around this. When an enclave mission places you in plague territory avoid killing zeds unless you do it with stealth.

New survivalists should read all manuals from developer, view wiki info, view guides, and videos to understand how zeds spawn and what compounds the spawn situation.

Knowledge is key to survival... the more you know the longer you live.

If you're in Providence Ridge, the Tutorial map, there is a Plague Heart by the road going south, in on of the houses there. The area around it is infected with its presence.

When you attack it, it will spawn in zombies to come and get you, so come prepared with incendiares and grenades. Once the Heart is dead, all zombies except Ferals will die instantly, so focus-fire on the Heart.

If you can't see which house has the Plague Heart, take your car and drive close to all the houses and then slow down to almost a halt. The sites will then be drawn on your map automatically, and also show up on the minimap. This is more effective with the Survey Car, a special vehicle. You can also climb up in Cell Towers or Water Towers to get a good overview of all the sites around it. Billboards are much less effective and not really recommended.

Figured it out, I have to look at the main map, not the mini map to see the tear drop skull, which is the plague heart. Then I found it there and killed the big red plague thing. Thanks everyone, you're great! And I thought the plague heart was in the building when the tutorial told me about plague hearts.
