Just how am I supposed to earn the "kill five armored zeds with explosives" bounty

I really want that tricorner. But I normally only carry soda can bombs when I'm setting out to destroy plague hearts, and there is no way to actively set out to hunt armored zeds. I did spot one while driving back from taking out a heart, and got out of the car. I nailed it with a soda can bomb, but it just got back up. my companion ran into melee range, and we had to hack it to death.

You smack off their helmets then use explosives.
Preferably heavier explosives as soda can bomb will just amputee the zombies.

Can confirm they were spawn reliabily around the military sites. First one i can think of is the ammo site near the starter base at providence ridge.

And do they RE-spawn after being killed?

Armored ones are normaly good killable with Military Handgrenades. Problem is this Nades are rare to aquire. near Polive Stations and Militaery Camps you have good chance this Zeds spawn as a Horde of around 5-7

You can make grenades with the Armory, and at the Police Station base in Meagher Valley.

The Mysterious Wandering Trader often sells a semi-auto grenade launcher with a 12-grenade magazine.

In the Rare Weapons Cases spread around each map in usually unmarked locations, you have a small chance of finding a revolver-style grenade launcher with a 6-grenade magazine.

Mines will also probably work well.

Just knocking their helmets off and shove them till they fall, you can probably manage a kill even with a well-placed Soda Can Bomb or Pipe Bomb.

Put a firework down and then drop a C4 and then get out of the area...when they mass around it, blow the C4. If it weren't armored zed you could do it with a whistling bomb, but those won't kill an armor zed unless they are already damaged.

Pretty sure I blew them up with a grenade launcher. Just keep one and a couple launcher rounds in your Van while out looting, you'll score them eventually. They mostly spawn near army outposts, but in Dread or higher there are usually 2-3 in every horde.

There is a small chance after destroying lvl 3 infestation dead juggernaut or feral will drop one of the single shot grenade laucher or you can either buy it from mysterious wandering trader for 1500 influence ( with 12 shots mag). The last choice is to find it at gun shops or military outposts but it is very inlikeable.

Grenades are easier choice, pipe bombs are pretty common to find but as the guys mentioned before you gotta do extra steps to make them work on armored zombies
