You're doing it wrong -- just move into Whitney Field and farm influence there by ringing the dinner bell.
that's why I like to build a still, as I can make one anywhere I go. it might be less efficient, but it works.
Another option for influence farming is to have a pharmacist. If you have a pill press, making strong pain killers gives you about the same gains as making alcohol with a bartender. You just need meds + food for the ethanol instead of food only.
Edit... Bartending coupled with Scrum... It made so much i ended up sending scrum to the pool after awhile.
Also, i wish theyd show up more, im almost certain the rare skill trader has bartending sometimes. I literally havent seen a rareskills trader in a year?
