What can I even do now? Black Plague Heart Trapped
I have about 30 hours in this game and I am on Trumbull Valley currently. I absolutely despise the Black Heart. I lost 2 characters trying to destroy this thing before I figured out you can turn off Curve balls...but that doesn't remove any that are already on the map. The Black Plague Heart is currently in the upper left hand corner of the map. At this point I just want to abandon the map and move on because I just don't want to deal with this thing anymore...but I can't leave. The Black plague heart has cut off the only exit to the map...I can't go around it because it is wider than that portion of the map. How do I get out of this place? Am I just trapped here now?

For any that say just kill it, I've tried. It's not that I haven't killed them before, this one is just insanely stupidly placed. The enclave to get the weakness is on the far side of the black zone for me which means I have to travel across the whole zone to bring the weakness samples. Then move all the way back down to the side my base is on to prepare to kill this thing and then drive back up and walk another 700 meters to probably just get killed by all the super strong zombies. I just want to be done with this thing.

Side note, curveballs are pretty neat except Black Hearts just crank the difficulty to a uniquely difficult level that no other challenge in the game even comes close to.

U can reset the map and then move out

quit to desktop and reload game when you suspect a bug/glitch has occured. It doesn't fix itself, just gets worse.

Which effect does the black heart have?
I've had black hearts with fuel drain and bad placement, in these cases I just skipped the weakness part and nuked the thing to hell with C4 or bloater gas and flares.
Edit: Oh I forgot, Scentblock is your friend.

I hate black hearts. I had one that was supposedly weak to explosives (that's what the quest said), and man I used like 40+ of medium to high grade explosives, and that thing didn't phase even once. In the end I had to use 2 scent blocks and just melee it for like 5 solid minutes.

Perfectionists who take the SoD2 challenge seriously will only refine their tactics until success rewards them as no other option is viable.

Similar thing happened to me. But I managed to get through to the exit. Get a good sturdy but agile car and you can get through. If that is too hard, get a character who can move really quickly. Use scent block and the antidote to counter the infection and you can run to the exit on foot. Ideally a lightly encumbered character with marathon maxed out.

I've spent all I've got. 40+ fuel bombs, grenades, everything at a heart supposedly weak on fire. Arrival instantly brings down hordes of zombies on me. I cannot even stop to look on map, get in trunk or anything. I have to drive close to the heart, run with 20+ "see 500m" zombies chasing me just increasing in numbers, jump in the window. Throw what I got. It's honestly not fun any more. I've been back to the heart 20+ times now.
The only reason I have any survivors left is because i kill the Sod2 task just before I die. Otherwise my community would have died 4 times each.

You probably figured something out by now but if the goal is just to escape the map with your community change the Map Difficulty, no need to change Action or Community Difficulty. This resets the entire map but let's you keep the community. I don't recall if it lets you stay in the current base though.

I'm not gonna say it's easy, but the solution to Black Plague Hearts is Scentblock and C4 Charges. These things don't grow on trees ofc. Early in the game it might be hard to get them. One game I had a BPH blocking off most of the map for more than 30 days before I had the tools to kill it.

Point is, wherever it is, there is nowhere a lone Scentblocked survivor can't get to and plant charges.

Sounds like the same as what happened to me. I targeted the supposed "weakness" and used TONS of those items to no effect. I'm convinced black hearts sometimes are glitched and there is no weakness, even though the quest says there is.

I had this same damn problem yesterday. I put my whole inventory of explosives towards it and it didn't die. I would even say it went as far as just not being hurt. It was in the middle of a house that didn't have walls inside. I couldn't actually attack it but from one side even though the walls were taken out between the rooms. It took 5 grenades to actually kill it once I realized it was glitched and not taking damage from the sides the walls should have been on. I don't know if the walls were glitched out or if it was the black heart. Now the black heart is dead but the curveball still exists saying I completed the objectives but it's still active and set as a goal on my map screen. Black hearts has felt like a bad idea since the beginning.

I so despise black hearts. I was hoping that the new Curveball control in Release 37 would allow you to toggle it off, but from the patch note, it doesn't look like there's that option. A shame. Whenever I get it, I just go to a new map and hope it doesn't come back.

If this hasn't been patched out, Rvid has 2 cheese tactics to deal with plague hearts.

Yeah it would be great if we could toggle off JUST the black hearts, all the other negative curveballs I have no problem with.
