Guess when State of Decay 3 is coming out!

Game was announced 2020 so it's almost 4 years ago. Both State of Decay and State of Decay 2 were indie titles made by a indie studio. Now with State of Decay 3 I think the scope is going to be much bigger and that it's going to be a AAA title instead of an indie title.

So from their challenges:
One has been to grow the size of the team. There is always growing pain when you get a lot of new members to an already existing team.
The covid years where the team was working from home instead of at the studio. I think most companies where people interact lots with each other to perform their job lost a lot of efficiency during that time.
The big games takes a lot of time to make nowadays.

So my guess is that State of Decay 3 will be released 2026. I don't think SOD3 will be released any earlier. If I had two guesses my second guess would be 2027.

I'm hoping they will show some State of Decay 3 during the Xbox Games Showcase. In a couple if hours we will know if we are going to get some SOD3 news or not.

Seeing how there's no release date on the trailer, I'm guessing either late 2025 or mid 2026. At worse, mid 2027 if there's a delay due to bug fixes and/or polish.

Edit: I've been notified that Xbox claims they show trailers when they're out for release for 18 months or less. If this is true, it's gonna be mid 2025 and that's being optimistic imo.

I saw a lot of beloved game series/studios that insisted in pushing unwanted live service and woke service those past few years, and the majority of them ended into a flop that barely anyone plays. I can only wish SoD3 won't end the same.

So far the trailer gave me the impression of "fake in game" like Days Before did (during the fight between the survivors and the zombies). And at the end of the trailer the good old rainbow flag. I know Rainbow flag should not be such a big deal (since I support the movement), but considering that flag have been milked for ESG score points, something tells me that game features such as police uniforms will probably be forbidden from the customisation rooster to get political points.

But hey, things may change, I think we waited something like 3 to 4 years just to get an update? I just hope SoD3 will be good

Got a new video i just found

If you look at the beginning of the video it says it is a mix of cinematic and in-game footage. Does not say how much of which or what you may be looking at, but I am guessing most all of this footage is cinematic.

Until they release some actual game footage I would hold onto to some reservations and hold back expectations about this title. I am still excited, but more of a wait an see right now.

Pretty sure it was said a couple years back that it will be 2028. Maybe sooner if they changed gears and are basically making it as SOD2 with additional features and constant DLCs.
