Anyone know WHAT IS ERROR 10? Can't play with my father.

I have a fiber optic line going right to my house with 960 mbps coming in. I keep trying to play with my retired father and it keeps doing an ERROR 10 network failure. Bullcrap! There is NOTHING WRONG with my network. I can stream 4k movies at the same time on multiple devices. My nephew and my sister can do online gaming together all night. WOW etc NO PROBLEM. What is with the GARBAGE multiplayer on this crap setup? Anyone else have issues connecting with friends or family. Just me? REALLY ticked off right now. Christmas weekend and I can't kill zeds with dad. Also, how do make headphones and mics work like they should? SO SICK and TIRED of trying hear each other talk. Tried DISCORD and did not even work. Should be plug and play. It is almost 2024. They can put people in space.

Yeah just sent this in to Undead Labs. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE. It needs to be SIMPLE drop in and out just like in Borderlands 2. No issues there. EVERY time we try to play together it is a hassle. So much so we stop trying and just watch each other play. This is very SAD.

Mods can break multiplayer. just a couple days ago. A user found it was Immersive Flashlights v1.0 that was causing their code 10.

Other than that the game runs on ipv6 as a p2p game similar to microsoft games

According to Microsoft the XBOX networking button has been removed or deleted after last Microsoft update. I cannot even check the networking to play this game. Have to wait until they fix it I guess. THe check for fixes button is not even there.

yeah that screen was a hold over from "Xbox console companion" all that stuffs gone now.

Agreed, they should have added something equivlent to it.

But, there are outdated mods that cause multiplayer problems. So if you have mods that havent been updated since uodate 35 you have to look into the compatibility. Nexus doesnt pull stuff that breaks game.

Theres a mod called

Immersive Flashlights v1.0

Its no longer updated and actually causes code 5 and 10. If you have it find a new flashlight mod.

I dont support mods but this is surprising to me so while thats up this will be here.

Step 0: Check https://support.xbox.com/xbox-live-status

If everything is green continue.

Step 0.1: You need a save file with characters before you can host or join multiplayer

This is essentially the same for any store version of State of Decay 2.

1. Windows 10 is a minimum requirement. Check your version by typing winver in the taskbar and pressing enter. All Windows 10 PCs should say 22H2 at this point. If windows update wont work we can figure that out. Ask for help in the main channel.

2. Make sure your timezone is set to the right one. You can check your timezone by typing cmd in taskbar then pressing enter. In the command line window that opens up type
tzutil -g
then press enter

Next, for steps 3 and 4 open the windows settings > apps and features list.

3. Scroll down to look for "Xbox Console Companion". If you have it, uninstall it. Its a now fully retired system app from 2018 and has been removed from the MS Store. If you have it and uninstall it, it shouldnt come back.

4. Next, look for these three apps. These are the current names.

"Xbox"
"Xbox Game Bar"
"Gaming Services"

These are now default apps in windows 10 since 20H1.

You may find when you open the Xbox app that it wants to update itself or install plugins called Xbox Live ID and

From there reboot the computer, see if any windows updates or MS store apps want to update, and try multiplayer again.
