Question about mobs/difficulty
Does the size of your community or the total number of skills in a community increase the mob spawns/difficulty?

I haven't played for very long but I'm enjoying the game. I had a community of 3 or 4 that were coming along with the skills when I discovered how the legacy pool worked. I decided to roll up a few and store them in the pool. Then I added 3 of the new roll-ups to my group. They are not advanced in their core skills but did have useful '5th skills'. Now it seems there are larger number of ferals (mainly) that are much harder to handle.

I'm wondering if I retired a couple back to the pool (or just cut them loose if they are on the less useful side) if that might reduce the spawns for a bit while I level up more core skills and get more folks ready for harder challenges.

Thank you in advance for any help.

It's the combined standing of your community members that affect the difficulty scaling. A survivor earns standing by completing quests and killing freak zombies until they reach Hero status. The more standing you have, the higher the difficulty.

I don't actually know whether lowering standing by killing or exiling survivors also lowers the difficulty, but most people seem to agree that it does.

Thank you very much. I will tinker with options and see how it goes!

As you said the "community standing" is total standing points the community has collect. regardless of any specific character.

that CS total is a tally that never decreases only increases. A characters death doesnt subtract anything. and characters that are heros with maxed out standing still add to the tally as they complete the things you mentioned

So that being the case, removing NPCs won't do anything to reduce that bump in difficulty. The potentially removable NPCs contribution to the CS total is already tallied into the CS total 'valuation'. Interesting. Thank you all for the clarifications.
