Will the black plague heart disappear?
I have disabled the curveballs in the gameplay settings, also quit the game and disabled it again, but the thing won't go away from my map.

It is extremely annoying because I can't complete missions in the zone where the black plague heart spawned in since it DRAINS BOTH health and car fuel. Also, the optional mission that gives out its weakness is literally besides the plague heart itself, so I can't do it.

It does not disappear until it is killed or you change maps.

Generally, the advice for less experienced folks killing black plague hearts is to make one trip to collect 5 black plague samples on the edge of its radius then drive (run, if fuel drain is active) to the researcher to get the weakness. Leave the radius to prepare sufficient supplies (2x whatever you normally need to kill a plague heart on your difficulty with its weakness) and make another trip to kill the heart.

Useful things:
Scentblock - pretty much makes you invisible to zombies that aren't literally hugging you
Stimulants/Energy Drinks - so you can just run and dodge non-stop
Bandages - good to counteract the health drain

Thanks for the tips, I did the optional quest to find the plague heart's weakness and unfortunately for me it is weak to heavy melee weapons. i tried to take it down using the scent block and energy drinks but as soon as the heart "screamed" for the first time I was swarmed by zombies. Sucks that it also spawned in a small room.

Your run is toasted. I'd recommend driving to a new map

With this weakness it is just a damn grind to kill the Heart.
Another tipp i got was, look for a nearby Vehicle and use it as a stash for a second Melee weapon and Ammo stacks. If you have a good supply of Stimulants or Food too, you can go with a Charakter with Gunslinger spezialisation.
Dodge
Hammer Spacebar and Firebutton
Eat
Dodge
Hammer Spacebar and Firebutton
repeat till you have enough room for another Damage Run on the Heart.

This won't bringt down the time you need to kill those $§%&? Hearts but it helps keepin the fighting Ground clear.

Also you can place Mines to at all entrances of the Building you're in. If you love to grind Daybreak and you're having daploable Mine Fields, these work very good too.

Or you have another Player whos kiting the max amount of Zombies around the area. There is mostly a point where they stop spawning, in my last Playthrough there where 40 to 50 when the spawning stopped. Or you lure the complete horde into a Bulding with no Windows (Some Factory like Buldings will do), then hit the heart till the Defenders come in, place a Zombie Lure inside the Factory and Block the exits with giant Cars (Which could be a problem if your heart has the Fuel Drain)

At last i wish you best of luck, and i hope they fix the Black hearts someday so can have only ONE per Run. i got literally 5 all together in my last Trumbull Run. All with Stam, Life and Fuel Drain.

Hi, melee weakness is pretty easy (and really inexpensive). Just bring a high impact heavy weapon, 3-4 smoke bombs & either 3 energy drinks or 2 stimulants (in addition to whatever you need to reach the location & counteract health drain). Consume your stamina regen item, drop a smoke next to the heart, proceed to bash it until it releases gas. Step out of the gas (but stay in the smoke) for ~10 seconds then go back in and keep hitting it. Pop stamina regen items & smoke grenades as needed (you have like 5+ seconds after the smoke clears where the zombies still won't attack so you can wait until after smoke disappears before popping the next smoke grenade). Repeat until heart is dead. Zombies will not attack you while you are inside of the smoke so it's super safe and easy.

My Black Plague Heart turned RED and is normal even though it says Black Plague Heart active. Mine is bugged though. UL still investigating I guess. So it kind of went away. Had one spawn on another community and it was REAL easy to beat. I think it was bugged to because it had no where near the strength that it was supposed to have. More like 2.5 times the strength. I've seen it was 7x. :steamsad:

thanks for all the help people, smoke grenades and zombie scent (or whatever its called) is the combination to go, I managed to destroy the plague heart using melee, tho my character almost died in the process.

later i disabled the curveballs. they suck.

As well as the Black Heart, there is also a curveball Fuel Heart. The fuel heart causes all zombies in its area to burst into flames and sometimes explode when killed. It also drains fuel in the affected area. This one is worse than the back heart as all zombies must be killed by ranged attacks or they will burn you or blow your survivor up.

yeah i believe curveballs like these will only ♥♥♥♥ up people's games. better to disable the feature

This was why I disabled curveballs. I was finding them quite novel and entertaining…but it wasn’t worth having to deal with this on top of everything else.
thebear05 Nov 7, 2023 @ 6:42pm
I do not mind them as the curveballs give an other aspect to the game. Some are good some not so good and some are challenging. This addition to the game has added to its replay ability.

It's somehow bugged, the curveball as well as black heart itself disappeared after restart the game

oh god i remember once i went to kill black ph. it was my first since curveball started so i didnt know and i didnt mind samples and weakness issue. i even couldnt reach to ph bcos many zeds around i barely saved my character to out of black ph radius by crouch etc.

my advice is: i have a favorite red talon character. she is good at it. why?
rt chars have scout and stealth at the same time. they have marathon too! plus... they carry double in their pockets... 6 by 6 items or many bullets.

i pick an outpost next to black radius and i go from there. it was really a challenge tho.

This happened to me too and I just reset the game.
I was only on day 1 anyways so it wasn't a huge deal.
You could try moving to another map.
