I tried the usual fixes: verifying game files, updating my GPU driver, checking the health of my SSD drive, and even reinstalling State of Decay 2 entirely, but to no avail.
Then, by accident, I loaded another save, and the game ran smoothly. So I hurried to destroy the Black Heart, and suddenly, the freezes disappeared.
Your stuttering issues might be related to Update 34 as well. It could be worth waiting until the current effect ends or attempting to fulfill the effect's conditions, whatever they may be.
I dont know why but unreal 4 games just dont seem to do that at all after updates
I will sub to this post, hopefully someone will give some nice tips eventually.
but you should go through ans clear the nvidia shader cache. neither the game or the drivers seem to do that like they are supposed to
