Black heart is not fun, seriously
Has 7x the hp of normal plague heart, has extremely agressive, deadly and infectious roaming zombies, has the ability to drain players health and their vehicles' fuel tank into completely empty while still maintaining the black heart affected area as a regular plague heart affected area, and to top it all off, CAN EVEN SPAWN REALLY REALLY EARLY IN THE GAME AND CAN STILL SPAWN AGAIN IN THE SAME PLAYTHROUGH.

Unless they're trying to play a sick joke with their own player base, who in their right mind would think this is a great idea and agree to implement it into the game? And why too?

This whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is the very definition of 'Extremely high risk, extremely low rewards'. Players spend so much time and resources and to only get rewarded with mediocre loot while they risk perma death on their characters. Enough criticism and let's start on the possible solutions for black heart balancing changes in the near future.

1. Do not spawn black heart really early in the game
2. Significantly reduce the hp of black heart
3. Significantly reduce the size of black heart affected areas
4. Completely remove or significantly reduce the players' health and/or vehicles' fuel tank draining mechanic when being inside of the black heart affected areas
5. Significantly increase the quality and the amount of rewards of the defeated black heart
6. Limit the occurence of black heart spawn to only spawn once per playthrough or put a really long cooldown AFTER the players managed to defeat it and not AFTER it has spawned

I had the same problem. Didn't know what to do, because may be i missed it, dunno. I had to shoot nearly 200-240 shots to kill it. 7.mm ammo

1. You don't need to do the black heart really early in the game. Take your time getting ressources first, do other missions and generally just make sure, that you're well prepared before facing that heart. The infestations are annoying, but not really that hard for a beginner (assuming, that you're playing a difficulty level appropriate to a beginner)

2. That's what the optional mission is for. That reduces the HP significantly from 7x down to 2,5x for whatever weakness you find. Also you don't need to do it in one run, as it won't recover HP. Just run in there 3 times and get back out if you feel like you would risk too much by staying

4. i would recommend, that you really take a look at the hp regeneration items. If you prepare properly, then you should easily be able to stay in there for at least half an hour without any risk. Also simply don't take cars in there (sometimes reading the texts definitely helps to prepare yourself properly), but rather use energy drinks to have unlimited sprints to get to the heart in a reasonable amount of time.

5. i wouldn't mind having like 3 more rewards, but at some point it would get just ridiculous, especially like 5 hours into the game, where the heart isn't as terrifying anymore, once you're able to produce ammunition and explosives in big quantities.

7.62 is the most ineffecient ammo in the game.
Use 5.56 you kill it faster while using less Ammo Ruck sacks to make ammo.

Perfectly good games do get damaged by bad decisions made by devs who try to change the properly functioning game mechanics too absurd levels.

Got this curveball on day 7 with six survivors. I hate it. This should instead be the final plague heart on the map, as a Boss Heart, so you have the game to that point to get ready. Having it randomly pop up sucked the fun completely out of the game for me.

I got the Black Heart curveball and started it. I exited out of the game to check something on who to take the black plague samples to. Went back in the game and it is a normal red plague heart. It still shows the black heart curveball as ACTIVE. Reported to UL. They said they are checking into it. Probably have to start a new map. I think it bugged on me exiting out of the game. I can't get it to spawn on any of my other communities. :steamfacepalm:

Yeah, it sucks, but if you give up before even trying, then you'll never be able to beat it. More often than not these kind of challenges are often less problematic than you think and only get impossible, when you intentionally die, just because you want to be able to complain about how you died in there.

About the only thing thing they could have done, was explain it a bit better.
Eg. Go and see the sample people first. Go find me some special samples, but that would involve new v/o. Which is a bit beyond budget these days. Cause they have to use sag people, and theyre all on strike anyway.
If people could read, you can see the steps that need to be taken.

As it is, id prefer theyre all black hearts, but your never told what the weakness is.

It took me almost 70 .50 cal rounds to put it down, and i got nothing in return for using up all those rounds that i gathered from 84 days of Lethal community survival. the event is a MAJOR slap to the face. not to mention the fact that my characters were sprinting half way across the map to get the freakin heart (and almost dying every time), that took me 8 different trips because of weight effecting marathon trait when carrying the .50 cal sniper. this is by far the worst update i have ever seen for this game. adding newer zombie enemies or improving zombie ai would've been much cooler than stat padding plague hearts

It is also fair to mention that this curveball forces player's to use characters who have Marathon skill

If you don't have that skill, your not making it very far without a Feral taking your head off

forcing player's to utilize one specific skill over all the others is bad game design, overall

I stopped playing because of this update, completed like 5-6 curveball events and the option to disable didn't appear.
tenser-spencer Sep 29, 2023 @ 4:24am
Instead of building on a great game, this update is going to kill it.
