"State of Decay 2 requires a valid Xbox Live account" error

Hello,

Recently I have been unable to login into SOD2 on Steam (I've been playing for almost a year just fine until now). I keep getting an error message "State of Decay 2 requires a valid Xbox Live account."

I have already tried all the troubleshooting tips: credential manager, set time zone automatically, using the xbox app, uninstalling the game, launching as administrator, etc. but to no avail.

I am sure that my Xbox live account is working since I can use it on the xbox app and on the xbox and microsoft website.

Is anyone experiencing the same problem at the moment? Need help please on how to fix this.

Same here. I've already logged in but it was still loading for minutes already. Then, it says xbox live required bla bla bla.... Till now still couldn't play the game. So now I don't know what to do anymore.

I'm having the same error. I use github to authenticate my Microsoft account and every time I click the link it just gives me the error instead of doing anything useful.

make sure the old app named exactly "Xbox Console Companion" is not installed, check your pc timezone, make sure you have any pending windows Updates or updates in the Ms Store completed and the computer is rebooted.

It also never hurts to power cycle your router and modem, but thats probably not it
