Corrupt Save

Not posted on here for a while so dont know if its been asked but its happend to me before and ruined my game. Load in my game and after about 10 seconds game just freezes and I have to hard exit out of the game. Load it back up and same again. Other save files fine. Anyone know a way of saving my save or is it dead?

game does alot of autosaves if you accidently quit while it autosaves sometimes your save get corrupted that might be the case

so what can i do about it?

maybe deleting the save and using steam cloud to download the save again might work but take a backup of your save when doing so

that didnt work; still crashing :(

i think its not a corrupt file more like a place ingame what causes this crash,

the game crashed before in the same area a few times.

when i now came back to that spot it froze again, sadly making an autosafe just am moment before freeze

Tips if its loading the save without errors but crashing at a location in-game :
a. Make sure you have no mods installed
b. Update your graphics drivers

i have the same issue, i already tried to re verify the files and even re install the game but nothing have worked so far.

i found the "solution" pressing win + r and the type %localappdata%\StateOfDecay2 , there are the saved files for your game, you have to delete the folder "saved", and then the game will start to work again.

BE CAREFUL, SADLY THIS OPTION DELETES ALL YOUR COMMUNITIES, but was the only thing that worked, not even doing a back up helped.

If you are on PC: This game requires you to keep *everything* in the Microsoft Store updated, especially anything to with XBox. Open up the store and see if you have updates to your Apps. If you do, it's likely that causing your crashes. It worked for me and I've been giving this advice for years on this game. GL!

i tryed all of that but it didnt work,

i found a fix tho !!

i put all graphicsettings to lowest and put FOV to 40 aaaannnd: yay it stops crashing

Crash only occures in one are of the map, ill attach a screenshot.


I tryed all this on 2 different Rigs both with recent GPU drivers

never mind, settins dont save much, only thing i can doo is avoid that area

That’s the exact same area mine crashes. Was about to kill a plague heart which is in one of those buildings on lethal and loot that little square of buildings and that’s when it happens. When I reload even if I try to run away from that area still crashes.

yeah... i reloaded like a thousend times and at some time it worked.

i am quite sure reduced FOV helps since i think there is like something you are not alowed to see else it crashes

so reduce FOV and try again and again... i was mainly looking from upside to downside when walking away like seeing only the street and your chracter, running north to escape the "crash point"

all that of cause beeing prety hard in letal close to plague hard but well even if your char dies you atleast have your save back :/
