Difficulty and Boons
After reading here and on the wiki, I can't find out what is correct and whats not, with different people with different answers.

I'm currently playing on Dread.
If I change the sliders to Nightmare the map resets, that part is clear.

1. Question is: Can I do that, and then start on and finish one Boon for Nightmare difficulty using my current fully equiped battlehardened community?

Some people say you can do that, others say you have to start a fresh community from scratch on Nightmare settings.

2. I also read I can create a fresh community on Nightmare settings, start that game, reset difficulty down to easy for fast getting stuff, then put the sliders back to Nightmare and then start the Legacy thingy?

Will any of these 2 options work or not?

If you want Nightmare Boons you must start on Nightmare and finish the leader with Nightmare.
The same with Lethal Boons, you must start and finish a leader on Lethal to get that boon.

So you must start and finish each leader on the settings you wish the have to boons unlocked for.

You can load up all your community members with all your stuff you want to have in a new community and send them to the Legacy Pool.
Over time you can recruit 6 more from there and start a new community with 3, now you have 9 from your old community in the new game and on the settings you want to unlock Boons for.

I have no idea on #2.

You unlock boons for the difficulty that you finish a map with. Doesn't matter what difficulty you started that community with. So you could start on Green then when changing maps you can change the difficulty to Nightmare and once you complete the new map you will unlock the Nightmare Boons.

No need to do #2

Well....., this is what I meant...., 2 different answers :)

Which one is correct?

And @BioFringe if you are correct.., do I have to change maps when I set the sliders to Nightmare, or can I just reset it on the map I'm currently on and restart that map on Nightmare?

MIne is from personal experience...

My first community post Update 30 (Forever Communities) I started on Dread and completed 2 Legacies unlocking 2 Boons. I changed the difficulty to Nightmare for my 3rd map and ended up completing all 4 Legacies unlocking 4 Boons.

You can't use these Boons though until you start a new community though. That's the kicker.

It's no different than being able to complete multiple Legacies with the same community regardless of difficulty. It never used to be like that. Every single Legacy needed a fresh community. Not anymore.

You can still cheese the old way that load up a new community with Legacy member and start with a bunch of stuff as well. Either way works the same in the end.

To answer your last question...No. When you change difficulty mid map you will be given a choice of which map to start on with that new difficulty. Just pick your current map and it will reset accordingly.

Yes you can change difficulty and then finish the Legacy. But the map will be reset, so the only benefit from doing this is that you already have a community, weapons etc. It will make finishing the Legacy quicker. I think you're back at the starting base, though, but I am not sure about this. Could be that you get to move into a base of your choice at some extra cost. It's years since I did this, so what I know about that part is probably outdated.

You can also just move maps once you have Command Center 2 or better. What happens then is that you get to choose which base to move into on the new map, at an extra cost. Then you get to choose difficulty. You take everything with you; your crew, the cars that are parked at the base (up to 3 parked cars), the locker and all Materials and stuff you used to build up the base. You also get refunded the Influence costs; roughly 60% of the cost of moving into your current base + total cost of buying and upgrading all your outposts. Just note that you get the refund -after- purchasing your new home, so you need 5250i if you go for the biggest base on the map. The maximum influence you can have after moving is apparently 4749 for some reason (9999 - 5250). I have done this hundreds of times, so I know this one well.

I have never used the Legacy feature, so I have no clue about that.
