How do I destroy a plagued heart?

many bullets, hits, or explosion. They don't die from fire. They have 3 phases, in between phases they gurgle up and do this little aoe explosion that releases blood plague around it. Last phase is quicker.

Any way you want. For some that's running up and wracking it while to others it's using Bloater Gas Granades. But anything in-between will work as well.

hmm. Didnt know gas grenades worked. I thought they were only for humans. Do they do a lot of damage?

After 3 soda can bombs it worked but before that I threw a molotov I just had to take a trip bake to the base. it felt really good getting rid of one

You need to throw something like fireworks first in order to get the gas to explode. It's probably the easiest way to kill them.

If you light them on fire, then yes that's the biggest explosion in the game. One Road Flare at the base of the Heart and then 3 Bloater Gas Grenades as fast as you can throw them kills the Heart on Lethal.

On Lethal, with a Groundbreaker Shovel, which is the melee weapon with the second highest Impact in the base game, it takes 20 regular (non-Powerhouse power-) strikes to kill the Heart. The first shockwave happens after the eighth strike. Then it takes 6 strikes to get the second shockwave and then you kill it with 6 more after that. The Beetle Mallet requires 18 strikes (8-5-5 iirc). Just use a ScentBlock and you should be left alone for the most part (although they will spot you if standing right on top of you, and the Ferals spot you 1-2 meters away so they are a nuisance). I bring some fireworks to distract them away from me, but this is also possible by breaking a window, shooting or busting through the door.

On Lethal, 11 Fuel Bombs is enough to kill the Heart, and these are the best because they spread so wide that you don't actually have to hit the Plague Heart itself. This means that you can stand on top of your car and throw the Fuel Bombs through the windows into a room (like a bathroom) where you can't see the Heart itself, and you'll still kill it.

It takes 15 Molotovs to do the same, but then you have to actually hit the Plague Heart pretty accurately to do damage. This actually takes less time because the Molotovs burn for a very short time while with the Fuel Bombs you have to wait for them to stop burning or you're wasting them.

Thermite Grenades are the most powerful incendiary and burn for a very long time. They don't spread very far, though. On Lethal I think that 6 or 7 of them are enough to kill a Heart, but this takes much longer than even Fuel Bombs. I think that your ScentBlock may run out before you're done if you also have to lure the zeds away and trick/kill the Ferals.

A Drone Strike outright kills the Heart on Nightmare and lower difficulties. Just throw the marker roughly 1-2 meters from the outside wall where you know the Heart is, and get in your car and start driving around until the Drone hits. Then kill the Feral and go and claim your reward. On Lethal you have to finish the Heart off afterwards with 2 Pipe Bombs (or equivalent), though, and the zombies will still be there. The Drone Strike marker will call in the maximum amount of zombies the game can muster in that area, so it's also a useful tool against hostile humans or other enclaves you want to kill off (but then it's smart to not succeed at calling in the Drone, by throwing the marker indoors - because then you can do it as many times as you like).

Firing guns is an expensive but quick and effective method of killing Hearts. On Lethal my favourite is having a Spec Ops Vector SMG with an Advanced Brake in the main gun slot and a G18 Custom Auto with an Advanced Brake in the sidearm slot. I then just clear the building of zombies before positioning myself point blank and then firing the Vector full-auto until it is empty, and then move a few meters back to avoid the shockwave while switching the the sidearm. I usually manage to kill the Heart with the G18 before the Feral and the other zombies arrive, and can thus just dodge-run to the car and leave. This saves me a ScentBlock or can be done before having access to them.

one of the reasons i miss SoD1 Dragonrounds so much. bloater in attacking hoard, one shot at the bloater, whole horde goes boom....

for the hearths, i woud say molys are at the lower end of useful stuff vs them, military nades and firebombs works more cost efficent, or if you have the stove for it: aniversary cakes. igniting one at the hearth and after it run its course you only need 2 3 hits to finish it of in nightmare.

4 pipe bombs on nightmare, that's it. Might take a few more shots after that depending on how direct of hit, they pop quickly with explosives, I've done several in a row and gone many times without even getting hit by the storm of plague zoms.

Pipe bombs, Soda Can bombs, Frag Grenades, C4, that sort of stuff works quicker, and less resource intensive than 100 rounds of typical ammo. It's also more efficient because the heart doesn't have enough time to spawn more zeds to kill you.

You might even try whistling mines. Put a few in close proximity to the heart, then get the heck out... if you are being stealthy, the zeds may not even see you and move to the heart because of the sound. All birds with one stone.

What everyone seem to forget is that if you use only one type of damage the heart gets resistant to the damage, and you end up spending way more ammo than you have to, instead of using 15 molotovs, try instead to use 1 molotov then grenade, and then explosives, now instead of wasting your assets try spreading the damage around, wait abit and then repeat, adding some melee aswell will make you spend less with the same result. be smart ;)
