Driving you nuts?
Driving is sometimes fun until it isn´t. I hope they really do something about his in SoD 3.

What they could do for SoD 2 is create a few shortcuts on the existing maps, it just .... well ... I watch too much TV while driving, that never goes well but adds to the excitement.

you should try one of the driving physics mods. I've seen about 2 that change the way cars behave.

Driving in this game has a steep learning curve compared to other games. I do agree with the sentiment that “it is fun until it isn’t” (sh** happens).

Don't drive. I have been playing lately (Dread difficulty) where I don't drive at all. With stealth, it's actually easier, since the zeds are drawn to sound and all of the cars are desgnied to draw zeds; you just don't draw them to the same degree as when you have a car. Most of the time, you don't even have to use stealth, you can just walk/jog the normal pace and get where you need to go. Not as fast as a car, and you're limited on cargo, but much safer.

Also, the zeds tend to spawn in/around the roads, traveling cross-country helps (even in cars) avoids a lot of the zeds.

There are quite a few shortcuts, but they can be hard to find. I find myself driving off road to save time quite often. Especially in Trumbull.

Trumbull is by far the easiest map for shortcuts, I am referring to f.ex. Drucker County ... I am really tired of driving there.

I found them by myself after getting tired of driving around, at least most of them. Only have one plague heart left and using the time to explore a bit. Not the worst map, there is one I couldn´t find any shortcuts on .... can´t remember the name now.

First thing devs need to do for SoD 3
Make cars not die in like 2 hits in higher difficulties

I agree. Even using a character with the driving skill and an autoshop they are still made of paper.

If you guys are not against using mods there's a few mods that fix the issues you're talking about.

Improved vehicles makes cars 2 times more durable and hold more gas and more. Theres also an invincible version of that mod.

Better vehicle storage. Changes vehicles to hold more storage. Doesn't make sense that your character can hold up to 8 AK-47's while your muscle car can only hold 4

This an easy fix... add a dynamic to the game; where for labor (like imagining sending 3 or more of your people out) to manually relocate the car off the roadway. Not like six people couldn't figure out how to move even a bus off the road and over to the shoulder. If they have a car/truck to work with, a chain/rope etc... and any of the obstructions would go bye-bye quick, even with one person doing the work.

Another far easier fix with assets already in the game is to have your "mechanic" use spare parts to repair vehicles while they are parked. You can toggle "repair of/on" on each parking slot.

Then cars won´t need to be made more durable, on higher difficulties you just have to swap vehicles far more often. The repair kits will still exist for field repairs.

At the same time he could also clean the darn car.
