Putting this out there because I actually have not found any post or video online just describing clearly how to use Helios Mod Manager on Steam Deck.

So i’m the average joe modder, i just tinker a lot. My steps to getting my mods to working and translating in game was this.

1. Hit Desktop mode and Download Helios Mod Manager from Nexus.

2. Unzip .exe file into your main SOD2 directory where “StateOfDecay2.exe” is located. (Not sure if this made it work but it’s just what I did.)

3. Add “ModIntegrator.exe” to Steam.

4. Make it compatible with Proton Experimental and Run, click Steam Epic Store.

5. After you ran it for the first time you can close it out.

6. Locate your new Compatdata file for ModIntegrator.exe it’ll be that 10 digit number file and it’ll say modified Just Now.

7. <file number>/pfx/drive_c/users/steam user/AppData/Local/StateOfDecay2/Saved.

This will be where all your Paks and Cooked Files from Nexus will be going and will reflect in the Mod Manager App when you run it. Make sure to keep this window open.

8. In a separate window Locate your SOD2 Compatdata folder it should be 495420. And you’ll do the same directory as step 7. When you get to the “Saved” tab you should have a Paks folder and a Cooked folder. Paks folder you can drag and drop Pak files from your Downloads just like you did in step 7 so they both reflect the same files.

9. Now for Cooked Files. For your Cooked files to reflect in game you will have to Copy and Paste the Cooked file from the “Saved” tab in the Helios Mod Manager Compatdata folder to the SOD2 Games “Saved” tab and overwrite.

10. Now go back to your Steam App and run ModIntegrator.exe and click Steam Epic Store and Refresh View to verify mods are active if Files aren’t shown already.

11. Run SOD2

This worked for me I hope it works for you guys and I hope the instructions were like clear enough as well.

Sorry I realized I did not describe where to find compatdata files in case you don’t know:
/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/

Show Hidden Files in View tab for /.steam/

Question:if those "Paks" and "Cooked" folder are missing in SOD 2 "saved" folder, do i copy the folders over from the mod manager to the SOD or do i not? edit: i just realised i forgot to say one thing: does it only contain those 2 same folder or does it also contain other typical folders like the save file itself and other ones right? Edit: tested the dev menu and what i said is yes, you do have to copy both folder into the "saved" folder in SOD2 and not other folder
