Do your AI Survivors "need" health and stamina items?
So I watched Fox on Youtube and he always puts 1 health item and 1 stamnia item with a gun and a weapon on survivors he is about to swap out playing with.

My question is do they actually need those items (aka use them if they get in trouble) or is he doing that for his own personal immersion?

Many thanks
OG

If things go wrong, I sometimes use some energy drinks or painkillers if my character's hurt.

If things don't go wrong, I almost never use them. They are there just in case.

AI do not use health, stamina items or, what is even worse, plague cure.

If they are low on health they will use infinite bandages,
but they must be outside combat and stationary to do it.

They don't need to have bandages in inventory by the way.

Why not just ask Fox why he does that? He answers questions on his YT videos in the comments section.

Fox has said that he does that in case he has to switch to them for some reason. He doesn't want to be completely out of healing items and get caught flat footed.

Yup. I keep extra ammo, health, and stamina stuff on every character. Even a plague cure. It's for one of those cases where I gotta swap characters fast. Sometimes a character I have will get really hurt or tired, and I have limited time on a mission I'm doing, heading to an outpost and just swapping to a ready character has saved my ass a few times. Especially since I play on one 2nd hardest difficulty, blood plague can kill a person in under a few minutes. Sure, half my inventory is constantly full, but I'd take that over a zombified maxed class character any day.

I am often too late due to my timezone and I don't use the other sites he has.

Well, I reluctantly used discord at my time with another game, it's horrible. It's like walking into the competitor AOL in the 90s whatever they were called.

Thanks, it does make sense. Especially on higher difficulties I suppose.

I picked up from him that AI companions going around with you are dangerous. I used to, as if I went looting I like to stack the other character (the AI) up as well as my own. Effectively carrying back double. Yet, now all I do is grab an outpost and loot around the outpost then get rid of it. Assuming influence is so easily got once your setup.

I completely misread the question.

The others are right; the AI survivors don't use any items and don't need any. The reason I don't remove their painkillers and stamina boosters is that there is no reason to do so. It's simply put 2-4 wasted clicks every time you switch characters. Every survivor gets a backpack, a bladed weapon and a stack of painkillers and stamina boosters. As I said I hardly ever actually use them when using the characters, and then all is ready when I swap characters except for one thing:

I replace the silenced, sighted or scoped gun that I used myself with a loud-as-hell, powerful gun for base defense. Then with the new character I replace the base defense gun with my silenced gun, add a stack of ammo for it, and go looting or do missions.

Why would you remove all the stuff from your NPC survivors every time you swap characters? Are you that short on consumables, produce more, yes?

Yeah, just started on Drucker county (well, about 11 days in game time)

I am always missing painkillers or health items and explosives. But I haven't got a trader yet to get the trading post, that's what I am working towards. Plus this session just gone I cleared a town out of plague hearts so now I can loot/fill with enclaves so hoping I get lots of painkillers etc.
I know you can make them but I don't have a pharma guy yet neither. Working on getting them, keep on chucking out and recruiting members.

Yeah I know. I have books also, it's just getting good characters and no 5th skill.
(basically trying to have a really good OP community as this one is going to become my 100 days survived community hopefully.)
