Cycle enclaves with bad bonuses by recruiting. Of course, you may have to ditch some of your survivors. Usually I go from characters who have two red, then to bad hero bonuses. Then try and see who has the best bonuses and get rid of characters who don't have the "best". Sometimes, this will make a forever community a legacy community (more on that below) as I like all the characters in the community and want to pool them. (I cannot wait for the forever update re: this!)
If legacy community:
I complete all heart bashing.
Go around my community the same way as above.
I go around the enclaves and recruit them/see what they have etc.
Once happy with the mix and bonuses, I do a legacy.
Usually the builder as that is easier than anyother one. Although the trader one is the shortest in terms of number of missions.
However, I have never changed maps...I don't know what it does and if I keep all my survivors/stuff, so have never tried it. At that point though, I think it is rather pointless to continue though, so doing the legacy, completing it and moving to a brand new game file is better than moving to another map. But thats only probably because I don't know what it does and why you want to... unless the days survived actually mean something, I am guessing there is an achievement or some shenanigan for x days survived.
But yeah, thats what I personally do. I am more of a roleplayer though so I tend to like characters due to what I have done with them, so often this goes out the window and I end up doing a legacy as I ran out of space in the community.
I do keep meaning to ask where is the best place for suggestions and probably this has been suggested before and maybe to hard to implement in how late in its dev cycle this game is.
But I would really like outposts to become outposts.
AKA Each outposts plus 2 survivors to your the amount of your cap for your community.
essentially you can get 14 more survivors if you can get to 7 outposts of course.
However, the 2 more survivors stay inside the outpost. Not at your home base.
This becomes more of a game, as they defend against possible wandering zombies and hordes, they do supply runs and such to the outpost.
I already roleplay the fact that there must be a person going to and throw to your outposts, this is how you have supplies in your locker. A bit like in TWD with the Survivors in season 5? I think. When the gay chap is out and about stocking up outposts for random people trying to recruit to Alexandria.
Already update 30 is meant to have these hordes that overtake your outposts, so these 2 survivors being there could simulate an actual mission to defend it. As I would guess, if this did happen, you wouldn't or couldn't just hold a place with no one near it or protecting it, especially in America, they have guns and stuff.
The other thing would be have missions to clear roads and clear up inside outposts. Maybe each level of outposts the scenery changes to make it look like you are actually doing something rather than just getting magic benefits.
