Followers are useless!!!
May I ask why do we even have the option to enlist a follower? This option is just completely useless from all possible things. Followers just exist, they are just an extra backpack. They don't know how to help you, they don't know how to dodge, they can't even freaking hit their target even at 2 meters away. They always end up dead, always not knowing what to do when surrounded by a horde. At this point I got mad because, even with mods, "Basic Training Mod" or "Smart AI Human", they still can't help you properly. I wish there were commands in order to tell your follower to, SHOOT THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ JUGGERNAUT, instead of getting stuck in him, trying to melee him, dodging into him so you get stuck. Decide whether your follower should use the melee weapon or the ranged weapon. Anybody else going in missions but mostly ALONE? No followers at all? Because the way they are right now, it's just better for them to stay inside the base. KEEP THEM INSIDE THE BASE SO YOU DON'T LOSE THEM. For real, it's like they are pets ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ !!! What a waste, complete waste!

They dance around like Geralt and do nothing.

I recently encountered a funny "bug" per se. All sniper tower, watchtower, and pre-built watch position facility that provide armed watch near base basically useless. There will only be 1 survivor up there at any time (or 2 like normally but the 2nd one will not do anything but stand there. Yes, all idle survivors have .50 cal AMR or 40mm BML-40), rest survivors will congregate at one facility or nearby...

Point is when horde comes (even the zombie threat at home) they will not shoot the first 10 seconds and just use melees magically then all the sudden hearing all .50 cal AMR and 40mm BML-40 going all out at once like a nuke goes off just to put down a single zombie lawd.

Also somehow they stopped shooting at feral near base, I was toying with one earlier around base right in front of the pre-built watch position facility, and just looking at my survivor standing up there pointing .50 cal AMR at nothing lol

Day 88 going strong and weird buggy things happening

yeah the best deffense non buggy one that is is the red talon tower they always shoot no mater what
Just experienced something funny. Anybody else had a scenario when a zombie was coming towards you and the follower would just sit, walking around you, not paying attention, finally noticing the zombie, "entering the combat animation", and just looks at the zombie while gets pounced by the zombie, not even attacking.
Sorry to say this to sod2 players, but followers are nothing more than just an extra backpack. Your follower, NOT BEING ABLE to dodge attacks, attacking or shooting AGAINST 1 FREAKING ZOMBIE! This is just sad! There is nothing good if you have a follower.
Let me give you another example
Tressie's Quests: Data Gathering at the crashed airplane. After she collects the data, why does she stands still and the zombies are completely ignoring her?

Keep them in base if you play Lethal Zone. They are nothing but a backpack and they drag you down because you have to protect them even from 3 zombies. They are just useless.

followers are either super saiyajin or yamchas

Weapon (guns mostly) plays a huge part of their effectiveness.

The auto only (Raiders, Grease Gun etc.) is well known but they also seem really effective with x-bows hitting headshots often and quiet so they don't draw aggro.

Not so good vs. Juggernauts but fun if you have a lot during a base defence, Poor Juggy ends up looking like a Porcupine and you get to loot back some bolts.

CLEO weapons besides the SMG suck (only have tier 1 so not sure about tier 2). I gave a Red Talon soldier a Battle Rifle and watched as he couldn't hit a zed at point blank range... I think it's because they are considered shotguns, which also suck if not full auto.

Unfortunately the A.I. just isn't tailored to a lot of the weapons and they just don't work. It's either forced volume fire or niche weapons like x-bows or pistols. Just proves their brain is turned off if God (player) isn't guiding their hand.
I used to feel the same but:

1.) on. Lower difficulties they are a lot more impactful especially for new players who need some help

2.) even in higher difficulties I have found ways to utilize them in different ways:
1. Use them as traders (if from an enclave) to sell to while you go along and scavenge.
2. Making sure the people I enlist are either from an enclave or an expendable community member
3. If community member; utilizing their quirk skills - example I used to use someone with driving quirk skill to drive me around on lethal difficulty but I’d immediately dismiss them at my destination so they didn’t die.
4. They can take some of the zombies attention/be bait - knowing they will die is sad but it can help you get an edge in risky fights.

I don't care about the guns they use, the weapons they use. I don't use them as "BAIT" or for trading. I use them as a PARTNER, a FRIEND, to help me in fights, PROTECT each other. Why would I take someone with me who's just mostly DEADWEIGHT, needing constantly babysitting because even with mods they cannot handle 2-3 zombies.
You see the zombie jumping on you to bite you, BUT THE DEAD FREAKING WEIGHT doesn't even know what DODGE means. AI is useless

If you want a large storage with you for trading/gathering resources, just use mods. Have like 30 slots in your vehicle and boom. No need to have a stupid AI with you, just to take care of it 24/7. And having the risk to lose your member and the knowledge it has!

I only enlist followers from enclaves so I don't care as much if they die, and it is nice sometimes to have a mobile trader following you around to offload useless items.
hi, i have a question. many times my follower got pulled from a car, then they are swarmed by zombies. if i hit them (zombies and my follower) with a car, does that damage my follower? my follower will surely get knocked back by the car, but does that damage my follower? if not, then this is one of the way to save my follower effectively instead of shooting the zombies around them
