Sure, if they ate bees before getting scanned, they've never looked realistic.
However, the generic headshape template they used make a lot of them look like they've eaten bees with those chubby cheeks.
Well, when you're really hungry you eat bees too. Eat through the pain!

You can tell which ones of the female "models" were actually pretty in RL, though. Let your imagination help you...
The heads needed to be uniform so clipping was correct with the hats and clothing and hair. Im sure thats a significant amount of the character design work/time
