What idiot signed off on being stuck to locked doors?
Don't get me wrong, this is probably my favorite game concept of all time, but they clearly needed to hire a few more game designers.

Someone really thought that your character should be irrevocably stuck to a locked door with no way to escape except to break it down. Incoming zombie? Stealth is paramount? Want to look for another door? Nope. Only one way out of this situation.

PC Master Race = whatever you bound dodge to.

That's the whole point. There is an element to danger, knowing any door you grab may need to be knocked open. Extra tension knowing you may have alerted nearby zeds.

All this complaining and throwing insults when all you had to do was press dodge.....

lets be fair, its documented nowhere, so as long you dont try any key at hand you dont know. you only ever get the mouse massclick icon when standing ata locked door.

I bought sod2 at release and did not know about the dodge trick until a few months ago.

It's not the point. The point is to as others have said, push the dodge key to let go of the door. Outside of evidently not knowing that was a function - your narrative is just plain stupid.

"I'll never know if this door I'm holding needs to be kicked open, because just like in real life, once I touch the handle I can only go through it". Good lord.

No, I am aware that the dodge key, C on my kb, lets go of the door. Been playing the game for 2,600 hours. There is still that extra tension if you have a zed coming at you with having to escape the door, which makes the escape that much more close. When you escape and then either engage or escape, it feels more like a win. That's good tension.

There is no reason for hostility. You evidently have some issues issues if something as small as this causes you to say a narrative is stupid.

Now, go back and read the OP again. Reading comprehension is important. The OP did not ask for assistance or guidance. They were ranting. A comment delivered to a rant is perfectly normal. If they had asked for assistance, my response would have been different.

If you're having to escape then just run into the door and it'll slam open locked or not. makes roughly the same amount of noise and you're being chased anyway.

Which is my point that escaped the person who felt the need to slam me. Either way is good, because either way they know you're there.

I have still seen no evidence that sprinting through the door makes more noise than mashing the button to try thrice with the shoulder before opening it, or pressing forward + dodge (I think it is). Those three methods of opening locked doors without Stealth makes the same amount of noise.

That, of course, makes the button mash method (evidently the intended one) obsolete.

you must feel pretty dumb for not realizing all you had to do was press one button :denied:
Beatbeat Goodbeat Jan 8, 2022 @ 11:18am
just use dodge. whatever button you have bound to the dodge mechanic lets you leave "break down door" mechanic.
