It matters how you define "Best"

Trumbel Valley has most military Sites - so better chance of weapo nspawns

Meaghr Valley is nice flat land - so easy to travel

Providence Ridge has nice "grouped" towns making it easier for outposts to make safe zones round buildings

Cascade Hills - Has nice bases - reasonably flat but loot is some what medicore

Drucker County - Everyone hates it. Don't bother

Drucker County - Everyone hates it. Don't bother

why?

Entire map is just mountains and valleys, driving through it is a nightmare. Since it takes a lot of time to go from Point A to point B

It also has no good bases - compared to all other maps.

So basically everything on the map is bad.

Drucker is my favourite map precisely because of the numerous shortcuts between towns, and it has got some good bases in there as well. The most active Rare Weapons Cases of all the maps, bar perhaps Trumbull Valley, also helps.

See? There is no "best map".

Providence Ridge because it has the largest moon and brightest nights.

The darker long nights of other maps cause eye strain at times, particularly with high bloom in houses.

I actually like Drucker because it has the most military loot of any map. It's literally everywhere.

Most hate it because off road is very rocky, making shortcuts difficult until you learn where the shortcuts are. Once you learn them, it becomes a great big map.

That being said, Trumbull is my favorite map, simply because of the layout and having several good bases and a pretty reasonable amount of loot.

Is there a different story progression if you're on a different map? I just started playing and the current map im on is providence ridge. My current story mission is clearing out plague hearts but wanted to know what happens if i exit the map

No - all maps except Trumble Valley are pretty much the same.
If you move to a new map - you get to keep your survivors + vehicles ( that are in the parking spot ) + all loot in storage + your current influence and start at new map with all plague hearts.

Basically every campaign map is basically
Pick a Leader
Clear all Plague Hearts
Finish leader quest.

Trumble valley map has its own unique map story quests ( not to be confused with Heartland DLC ) which are not found in other maps.

best base in trumbul campaing = "FarmLands Compound"
Best Map Overal = Meagher Valley... more secret containers, best Meagher Base = Camp Kelenqua (8 beds and enough slots almost than "bigger" bases, that also cost more influence and survivor team))

happy Yule Everyone and good gaming
