Yes. Nine is the normal maximum. You can fudge your recruitment to get more. E.g. a double recruitment at eight.

9 is the max from initiating recruitment yourself from enclaves. However, 12 is the true max. You can go above 9 by getting quests that end with the survivor asking or giving you the option to recruit them.

For example, if you have 9 and get the step-brother police officer personal quest, and the brother is alive at the end, you can recruit him and will have 10 survivors. Or if you have 9 and cancel the moonshiners special enclave project, they'll eventually ask to join and you'll go from 9 to 12 by getting all 3 of them.

You'll also get a few recruits near the end of the Builder legacy quest, easily pushing you to the 12 max if you already have 8 or 9 when you do them.

well that's disappointing. if they made a true pc game it could be based on bed amount not console limitations. shame.

Pretty sure they intentionally limited it for difficulty/design reasons, as you could have more in the prior game. They seem to want the community to feel smaller and close-knit.

Its the ram and cpu limitations of the consoles. Theres just not enough cycles on the xbox one gen to go around. Because the games cross-platform-multiplayer its limited by the lowest common denominator :steamsad:

edit:like even if you get 12 they wont actually all be at the base. its limited to like 7 characters actually being in one spot. Even then it gets jank

you can get remaining 3 survivors if you dont do soldiers/rummers/car mechanics enclave mission. they will join you that will make you 12

to expand on this. you do the first mission for them, which is typically (always?) bringing one of them back home, then you refuse the second mission, it should say "cancels enclave project" after some time (i think max one ingame day) they will ask to join your community

For real? I thought this was always a bug that they were just too lazy to fix. It's so frustrating to look for a specific survivor you want to enlist when you have a large community and a large base (especially that container base). You spend an hour trying to look for them only to discover that they are invisible. I then switch to that invisible survivor from the community menu, then try to run like hell and find the one that I just switched from before he wanders off or disappears. AAAAAH SO FRUSTRATING!

I've always thought it's a bug where they just fall underground lol.

An easy 5 second work around for this is to switch to the survivor you want (survivor A), enlist anyone else at your base (survivor X). Switch to survivor X and survivor A will follow you. Then use the community menu to switch to the second survivor you want (survivor B). After switching, you keep your current follower, so survivor A will start following your new survivor B.

It's very annoying that we have to go through all of that just to achieve a simple thing. I just can't understand why they haven't thought of adding a button to enlist a survivor from the community menu, even after all those years?

I can't speak as to why they haven't added a different way, so the current switching is what we have to work with. It's annoying, sure, but it's a pretty simple and very quick process.

is this just on consoles? in roughly 700 hours between gamepass, and steam once it came here i've never had a problem finding one of my survivors, and usually have 12

I only play on PC/Steam. This always happens to me even when I was playing on max graphics back then. Not sure why. Have you tried playing the container base with max survivors? It's a nightmare.

It's been this way on PC since launch. I've only ever played SoD2 on PC. It was also like this in SoD1. Personally, I've never had an issue with it due to the above work around and, to me, it gives the feeling that some survivors are actually out gathering the supplies they'll randomly add to your locker.

well, i don't enlist people that much. but i'd have still thought i'd have noticed somewhere along the way one of the times i did, or wanted to access somebodies inventory without switching, or just look and see which backpack they have on. but clearly i haven't paid enough attention to this lol
