Does the game have a story?
My friends won't stop bugging me into getting this game ( hell they even gifted me the first game to try to get me into the game ) but I heard many concerning problems like I heard there is no main story like the first one had and it focuses on being a survival sandbox instead.

Ya unlike the first game this one has no real main story mate. If it were me I'd tell them to gift me this game if you want me to play so badly. lol:steamthumbsup::steamhappy:

Being a sandbox game is not a "problem", per se. ;)

The game has a general backstory and overall end goal, but since your characters and interactables are randomly generated, you go about the game however you so choose.

The "Heartland - Return to Trumbul Valley" game mode is more story-oriented with set missions, and is included in the base version of the game.

Yes it does. The ending is beautiful.

Theres a story and there is lore for the universe of State of Decay however the second game is more or less small time conflicts and quests and more just focused on surviving

There are 3 modes in this game :
- Sandbox Survival
- Heartland Story Mode
- Daybreak Horde Mode

so yea it does have a story, finish Heartland and you'll find out something big.

There are little radio broadcasts you listen in on while playing that seem to get added to with every update. Right now some lady escaped a Red Talon work camp and is probably setting up the story or at least premise as to why Red Talon and The Network are going to fight in SoD 3. If I had to guess, your survivors will probably have to pick a legacy and align with either side for more legacy bonuses or a twist to whatever ending you get. That's the feeling I get from the way survivors comment on which side they prefer in game after a broadcast.

If you call tutorial a story then sure, even the first game had it.

I'd hardly call the first game having a story lol.

Somewhat of a story but nothing like the original.

you create the story, in your mind, which is of course different than a story limiting or guiding imagination. The game supports you at thinking a story, a lot. (Sandbox Survival)

???, to me there was a story in SOD1...you were camping with yer buddy, the Zed Apoc hits...you need to get out of Trumbull Co. before the rotting corpses in the dam spoil any and all freshwater in the county...to me that is a story. You meet the Mayor...there is the final breach at the quarantine checkpoint by the walled up road.
