me or my friend cant connect to multiplayer

havent played in a long time and recently got the game with a buddy.cant connect together.any advice would be appreciated

make sure you both are signed in to xbox, you can check that from the main menu on an option that says multiplayer or something like that

With a little prework this game is one of the most comfortable MP options i ever sen.

1. Both of you must have a xbox account
2. both of you shoud link that xbox account to your steam account
3. at least the guests xbox account must be in the xbox friendlist of the host.

4. Host must have activates Multiplayer in his Game settings.
4b. Host shoud activate "Friend can join" in the game settings (the option right uder Multiplayer on/off)

if you have made all this prework once the Host starts a game with his comunnity normaly, and the guest enter the game, opens his steam overlay there, and can join the host over the steam friendlist with an "enter game" option with no need for the host to send an invite.

dont forget the guest is only a helper, guest can find loot for himself, but has no base facility access. guests survivors can gain skill exp, but no standing. but the guest has access to the stash of the community he choose his survivors from.

thanks for responding.we have done all the prework so to speak.signing in to xbox live,multiplayer settings are on and open to friends,we are friends on xbox.problem i am having now is i can not create a session for him or anyone to join.keeps saying session failed or failure or whichever.ive reinstalled the game,restarted my router multiple times.nothing..i have absolutely no problems on any other game with connection to multiplayer but this one for some reason and i am stumped.so if anyone reading this has an answer im all ears.would greatly appreciate it otherwise its going to the uninstall list forever lol

sounds like you game fails to start the multiplayer host layer, seen this only onetimes at my game, and that was possible a problem with the xbox servers.
if it is a permanent problem i guess you have a firewall jumping in the way or you residence is in a internet problematik region.

Have you Linked your Steam Accounts to your XBox accounts? dont see you sayed so.

tryed to host or join a Daybreak session? because Daybreak is an open for all modus you coud see if you have a serious connection problem when that dont works too.

@Steven yes, Daybreak Modus where you defend an outpost as a Team vs Waves of Zeds for a special currency spendable for better stuff in your Communitys, and other Players can help you with there Survivors in your Community in the "normal" Gamemode.

okay thanks for the info. ill have to do some more digging i guess cause i cant join any multiplayer game.its weird, and yea we linked the accounts and all that. just i cant seem to either join or host a game. but i havent encountered any problems with any other game playing with friends or just random players on any server.

so its could be a firewall issue or something of that nature.but i appreciate the help and the time.have a good one

any news hoe to solved it, i googling and follow any direction still no luck for this connection problem. i have same problem too, all Xbox setting and account are connected. i can see my friend. and my friend can see me, network , cable, router switch are okay. still cannot connect or join multiplayer . all my multiplayer game not have problem connection. even LAN party game are perfect. only this stupid game cannot connect at all.
