Take their gear, welcome new enclave, sell said gear to new enclave.
I never threatened Enclave, and always used either fire or zombait. On occasion I'd recruit a member to get them killed off, or as bait.
The only benefit I could see, is that thoses Enclaves are taking the slots of other enclaves that can possibibly be hostile. So, destroying thoses enclave could lead to the arrival of hostiles NPC, depending of your difficulty level, it can be painfull.
1. The "murderer" Mysterious Broadcast mission where a X3 repeating crossbow-wielding maniac managed to one-shot all three of them. You can recruit if you are 3 or perhaps 4 survivors, or take your chance on demanding them dropping the weapon and leave (comply or turn hostile). You also get the loot of the dead enclave in addition in either case.
2. The "infestation/Feral killed the hostiles/neutrals" Mysterious Broadcast mission, where you just have to take out the infestation/Feral and then you get their loot.
I actually had the Echo trader spawn three times on this map, so X3 crossbow was plentiful. No mysterious trader, though a few Rare Skill traders.
