Steam Achievements not Working

Hello,

I have played this game for a couple dozen hours so far and I noticed after a while that none of the steam achievements are triggering for me.

I googled the issue and almost a 100% of discussions related to this problem are related to XBox and Microsoft. I could find next to no solution in relation to my situation i.e. PC user on steam with nothing to do with XBox.

Have any of you had this issue? I would greatly appreciate if anyone can guide me on how to fix this problem.

In Apps and Features look for an old app called "Xbox Console Companion" if its there uninstall it, you dont want it. Then reboot and look for updates in the MS Store. Another thing is anything like a Pihole on the network or anything of similar purpose the computer itsself. One (at least) of the extra functions can block Vortex.data.microsoft.com which is the server that tracks achievements and other in game telemetry

I have that app installed and logged in. There were no updates for it. I checked for system updates and game service/other xbox related updates. It makes no difference. I get 0 achievements.

And I dont know if its relevant (but I suspect it might have to do with the cause of the problem) when I open the xbox app, click my tag in top left corner -> profile -> click on SoD2 -> None of the game statistics are being tracked, Zombies killed --- , Ferals outwitted ---, etc. The only thing thats being 'tracked' is playtime, and even that is wrong. Xbox says 6h30m where steam says 2.8 hours. Quite a difference.

Sure thats little playtime. But I certainly qualified at least for the achievement for opening 10 containers and causing a commotion, aswell as a few dozen zombie kills in the game statistics on the xbox app. Still no dice.

If you mean single player vs hosting a multiplayer, I tried both. Made no difference.

sign out of your xbox profile in game by pressing the equals (=) sign on the keyboard. Then exit the game. Exit steam. Go back into steam.
Sign out of steam and log in again using your credentials.
Then go back into the game.
Sign into the xbox profile.
It should work.

Followed this to the letter. Still nothing.

I made 2 new one on dread on 19th was that the day of update? I haven't made new one after 19th

I've just got my 10k zombie kill achievement with 10000th kill being car door slam kill. Hopefully next generation achievement works when I make new community...

Actually, if I continue same community on diff map would that count toward this achievement or have to start new and with just 1 or all 3 survivors from (this community I'm playing now)

this is dumb, but have you power cycled your router? not tracking any stats at all sounds like a networking API thing.

also check your timezone setting on the computer make sure its correct.

I powercycled the router.
Checked time settings, they are correct and sync'd up.

Didnt solve the issue sadly.

Nothing is being tracked -> No achievements being given for anything.

I mean, something as simple as 'open 10 containers' I should've gotten for sure. I get no achievements at all.

so you got the prereqs, the network itself works (MP works), windows and the apps are up to date.

as far as I know the steam achievments are passthroughed from the xbox side. Not sure the mechanism, but i believe its the xbox live dll in the SOD2 folder.

Could antivirus software be blocking the dll? Add the folder to your antivirus/firewall whitelist?

Yes everything I need to have installed is there, according to everything you can google about this issue.

I am using vanilla windows defender and I don't recall ever changing that, or even any firewall settings. I am not too familiar but does it work if I add the SoD2 exe file to the outbound rules? Can you be slightly more specific?

The effort of trying to help is much appreciated.

actually yes. you have that anti ransomeware settings witch can mess with some games witch uses your documents folder.
