Not being able to create session.

So I did all the fixes possible to try and get the game to not give me session error (1005). I tried everything on xbox/microsoft website, drivers, windows updates and whatever else you could think of and I still can't join co-op games nor create a session so my friends can join me. Does anyone know a way to fix this trash? I play a lot of other games and none of them do this. If there is no way, I'll end up asking for a refund. I see thats a problem a lot of ppl have and no one get's any answers

I'm having the same problem. I played without any problem 2 years ago, today I open the game and error 1005 when try to connect to my friends, and session error when I play alone.

Step 0: Check https://support.xbox.com/xbox-live-status

If everything is green continue.

This is essentially the same for any store version of State of Decay 2.

1. Windows 10 is a minimum requirement. Check your version by typing winver in the taskbar and pressing enter. Versions before 2020 are EOL. So if you have versions 1809, 1903, 1909, or 20H1 you need to update. If windows update wont work we can figure that out. Ask for help in the main channel.

2. Make sure your timezone is set to the right one. The auto timezone function is crap. You can check that by right clicking the clock on the taskbar

Next, for steps 3 and 4 open the windows settings > apps and features list.

3. Scroll down to look for "Xbox Console Companion". If you have it, uninstall it. Its a system app from 1803 and earlier and no longer functional for newer games. Windows Store will occasionally try to reinstall it as its still considered a "system app". This is the number 1 issue people have, that I have seen.

4. Next, look for these three apps. You probably have some combination of them possibly with different names. These are the current names.

"Xbox"
"Xbox Game Bar"
"Gaming Services"

These are now default apps in windows 10 since 20H1.

From there reboot the computer, see if any windows updates or windows store apps want to update, and try multiplayer.
