Achievements not working

I've done several of these several times and I am not achieving any of them. They are still blacked out on my achievement list.

Bless Me Now With Your Fierce Tears - Begin a session with minimum difficulty set to Lethal.
I've done this several times. I've started several communities.

The First Hurdle - Destroy a plague heart in a Dread Zone or a Nightmare Zone.
I've done this several times. Is it NZ only?

What does begin a session mean exactly?

Having the same issue as well. Started a few games trying with past community members & randomly generated ones. 14 plague hearts into a lethal zone and still no achievements.

I expect a hotfix about that in the near future. In the patch notes they assure you can now obtain in the base game achievements about eliminations of blood plague freaks, and no more only in Heartland. Just did it in lethal zone, and no achievement pop up. This new difficulty is truly good for the hardcore gamer of SoD, but damn, it amplifies the problems and bugginess that are already in.

I had similar issue of achievements not working, nobody had the solution but i "fixed" it myself - I've included other info I found in my quest to fix it, it might help :/

There are a number of posts re achievements not working here and on reddit, I think I collated most of it but wont hurt to search out those threads here.

Hope this mess below makes sense as it's mish-mashed info (if you need any clarification, just ask) :-

Firstly, I had uninstalled all the Xbox/Windows Game store console stuff - so 1/ when I first started the game, never logged into the Windows Game console / store thing (press "=" to bring it up)
Even though a reinstall of this Xbox/Windows console stuff didn't fix the issue & not logging into windows game thing and having all that meh installed it WAS still the cause of achievements not working.
My end fix was to .... sorry ... reinstal windows 10 a fresh which correctly set up the xbox console stuff.
don't despair (if this is required) as explained at the bottom, it's a reasonably quick fix if you copy back stuff from the oldwindows folder. (explained below) but try the suggestions in quotes first.

Anyway short version, reinstalled Win 10 - but not steam, or game or deleted any saves and NOW achievements are ticking on left and right.

So if you bought the Jug version from steam you must have ALL the "fun" xbox live / microsoft game bar stuff installed, but start game from steam then login to your "xbox account by pressing "=" then lastly make sure "services.msc" telemetary is enabled.

to do this (found on reddit):-

"Run services.msc, (windows key+R > typre services.msc) scroll down to "Connected User Experiences and Telemetry" and insure it says "Running" in the Status column. It may or may not fix your problem but apparently it's required for achievements to register."

All that and now I have achievements - you know the best thing? I dont care for achievements I just like sh1t i pay for to work !


Back story:
After a windows update that corrupted the OS (it would boot, get to desktop then just start flashing the taskbar and no icons would appear) I couldn't pick ANY of the 4 restore points I had (I use a tool that creates one restore point a week minimum or after a seizable update so yeah kudos Windows 10 for breaking that option) so tried other basic repairs using my instal usb - nothing, couldn't "update" to incorporate current porgrams so last resort was to reinstal and then copy over everything from the created "Old.Windows" folder but DON'T past over any windows OS related stuff, just your appdata and programs and any other stuff you wish to keep - it turns a 4 or 5 day reinstall of all apps down to 3 or 4 hours of messing around.

There maybe something in there that helps?

Same problem "Bless Me Now With Your Fierce Tears" not unlocking tried: changing difficulty, starting a new game with previous survivors, starting a new game with new survivors, starting a game with tutorial. No achievement.

I'm reading all the comments. I put the game down for a couple days. I did try to log into xbox live on the main menu even though it shows I'm logged in. I thought maybe the achievements were linked to that account in some way since a lot of the achievements are showing up on the xbox app. Still, after checking its still not giving me the one for dread/nightmare plague kill and the other.

I'll put in a ticket for support. Its an old problem thats been around for awhile, but maybe they will fix it if we put in enough tickets.

I had the same problem and it was related to anti-spyware I had installed. The anti-spyware was blocking telemetry data being gathered by Microsoft from my PC. This in turn prevented any achievements since XBOX live is where the achievements unlock then once unlocked in XBOX live Steam updates.

If you have anti-spyware (that blocks telemetry data gathered by Microsoft) AND you want achievements to unlock you need to disable your anti-spyware when playing SOD2.

That was my problem anyway.

So to reiterate, if the achievement is NOT unlocking in your XBOX live account (you need an account and you need XBOX console companion installed on your PC) then it will NOT unlock in Steam.

I wish it were that easy since SOD2 is whitelisted like any other game I have. My firewall hasn't given me issues like at all with steam games. Disabling telemetry doesn't change anything in SOD2 achievements. I might have to try again on nightmare zone just to see if the issue was the achievement is written wrong.

Its one of those ongoing issues and I might just give up at some point, but when I have the time I'll do testing again to see if any new ideas, not listed here, make this work. Its annoying, but its not completely destroying my gaming experience.

I just checked my steam achievements looks like The First Hurdle achievement unlocked on the 7th. So 2 days ago. Must have been when I wasn't playing. I don't recall changing anything on settings on that day.

I loaded up a new lethal zone community and the achievement "Bless Me Now With Your Fierce Tears" and it unlocked. Not sure why.

Just to add an additional data point, I use piHole to block request out to a large number of domains, many of which are the MS data collection domains (eg vortex.data.microsoft.com). Once I turned off my piHole and allowed all traffic, all the achievements I'd received up to this point flashed across the screen and showed up in Steam. I've turned my piHole back on and expect not to receive further achievements until I redo the process listed above.

Thanks for your feedback as well. We gotta watch out for our fellow gamers when these things come up.
According to this thread I did get this issue resolved awhile ago, but not by any of the above. Perhaps it did but there was no way to know to for sure because I tried a variety of things before restarting my PC. I'll mark as solved. Hopefully it will still be of use to someone on steam.

Also to the guy in the back row that got to this thread a few weeks too late. You should have posted your thirst for tears when this post was made. Good luck to you my friend.
