Well I was using 7Days to Die as a "what not to do" for SOD3. aka Open World - open world would ruin the game unless well add had top tier hardware.
Open world wouldnt ruin anything. So many games are open world now days that won't have anywhere near the budget that sod3 has.
For instance, making the Enclaves more dynamic and interactive, realistic and an active AI that you could even run into as you loot a building. That would be fantastic, of course - the more immersion the better.
The problem emerges when you have played through the game a couple of times. If that interaction includes long speaches, cutscenes and a dozen mini-stories before you can get what you want out of them, the gameplay will be very clunky. You would be frustrated and bored out of your mind, like if you have to finish the Zombie Trapper enclave's long and windy questline every time you want to recruit someone.
Another example is the weather; if starlit and moonlit nights are brighter than they are today, but rainy and cloudy nights are as dark or darker, then many players will only do looting and missions near the Base when it rains at night because it's that much more risky. This diminishes the pick-up-and-play value, which is quite frankly what makes this game as successful as it is.
The simplicity and task-based gameplay is SoD's greatest strength, and adding more story to the core gameplay in SoD3 would be a mistake.
lol a lot of games are successful precisely because they do the things you're saying they should not do. You're not half as smart are you think... more choices as far as enclaves would not make things clunky. In fact they're extremely clunky as it is now, given the player doesn't even have the option of friendly fire. Right now the AI are god like beings that don't take dmg from the player unless you threaten them, and wait 20 more seconds for their god mode to be turned off. To suggest more AI options would make things clunky? gtfo man that is so absurd it's unreal. The AI is about as basic as an AI could get, it's in the basement and you're suggesting any improvements would make it fall out of the window. There is only up from here in so far as the AI is concerned. And also, the weather controlling when players do looting? Bro you're projecting ur personal opinions and experiences wayyyy too much. People just want weather. There are many worse games, some far worse games, that pull off weather and have a much better atmosphere. SOD2 does not even have a sun in the game. Compare that to generation zero, a single fps that's overall quality is beneath that of SOD2, but that looks and runs 1 billion times better. Like achieving a good literal atmosphere in a game with fun weather should not be hard to do in a game. It's 2020. Games like generation zero that fall short in so many areas somehow manage to have great atmospherics (excellent gusting winds, great storms with realistic thunder, snowfall, awesome haze, etc etc) so there is no reason that a group of intelligent developers shouldn't be able to make weather work in SOD2.
The only other thing I wish that was possible is that the AI group members can drive vehicles. It is annoying when you have to leave a car behind on the other side of the map because you don't want to ditch the one you already have. That and for raiding parties it would be amazing to be able to order a AI group member to driver a stocked full vehicle back to the base while you continue to scavenge.
That is all. Other than that I love SOD 1 and 2. I just hope they keep up the great work and support!
JHP - FMJ etc
there is more than just a 7.62x39 there is also the 7.62x52 - 7.62x54R
mods meaning barrels short - long
Night vision? since the lighting in SOD 2 sucks pretty badly you are using a horrible light source that hardly provides any actual lighting.
Or and at least allow flash lights to be attached to weapons and use that as well
I mean you can search military installations should be able to obtain these.
Even make craft them.
weapons
more AK variants example AK-103 AK-74 (5.45x39)
even the Israel Galil AR - ARM and SAR
or and the Italian Bernardelli galil AR/SAR
the Vietnam AKM-1
or even some of the british weapons as well
Huge list of things that can be added and why.
Better base setup - be able to remove and clean debris out of base and actually be able to use more space instead of seeing clutter around.
And being able to actually expand on storage such as use boxes to place ammo etc
And also MRES would also be nice to see SOD 2 lacked just as much as SOD 1 did.
when you go around searching stores you'd find bottles of water etc etc
military rations - MRE (meal read to eat)
And since they got the WWII stuff in SOD 2 if they are going to carry it over why not add in more WW II stuff? like the C - K - D rations?
I mean A and B rations are still being used today why not add those into the game
and add FSR (First strike ration) into it as well?
And that is all I am going to say
Just in general, make things actually have a purpose and useful (shooting range), not just a nice thing to have. In the end, you are in a state of decay.

It won't affect acheivements either
the boon system is awesome. It makes the game worth replaying
Agreed! One of the better aspects of the sequel. Hopefully they carry it over to the 3rd game
