What would you like to see in State Of Decay 3 upon release?
I have recently played State of Decay 2 JE to death & while its a vast improvement over the original in some regards it does have many flaws, that being said it is a very unique zombie base building horror game with a hell of a lot of potential. I have made a list of things I would love to see for the 3rd outing in the zombie apocalypse franchise.

An advanced construction system
Before State Of Decay 2 was launched Undead Labs insisted they had overhauled the base building mechanic, what we got was a little underwhelming to say the least, you would think with Microsoft money behind this company they would have improved on the originals base layout system when in reality it was more of the same with few tweaks to the management system.

What I'd like to see
A sort of Sims meets Fallout 4 base where you can have your beds laid out the way you want, and a sort of perimeter to build walls around your community, (After you clear an area of zombies obviously) & decide your ideal place for crops to grow for your survivors.

A more stable game
By that I mean less crashing, even in the new Juggernaut update there are times the game crashes for seemingly no reason, Also I collect cars in the game take them back to my base only for said cars to end up back on the other side of the map next time I boot up the game which really sucks & of course the many other glitches in the game cars flipping from one side of the map to the other, getting stuck on a damned curb (This actually happened to me whilst running from a horde & my character was torn apart)

Better Character Personalities
The characters personalities in SOD on the whole are weak & when they die I feel nothing because they are just so wooden, they have the depth of a puddle. Harsh but true, more so in the 2nd game, whereas in the original we at least had Marcus, Lilly & Jacob & Alan who had some kind of personality, in this game its none existent

Hi, I would love to see weather that affects the people so maybe now I find a reason to install a heater. Also I want to have more than only 12 or in my case 10 people in my base. I also want more bases instead of moving all around again, maybe something similar to Fallout 4 (in this case I love that game so much, can build so much there with the right mods). I also want to create my own character instead of randomize and hope for a good outcome. And maybe give the multiplayer part more reason to play together like dungeons, or Elite Monster, World Bosses ect. I really love the game I played already hundreds of hours true most of the times were spent during my Microsoft Gamepass period, but now I own it here on Steam and have blast again. I can't wait for a newer State of Decay :D

Character creation. Either hidden behind an unlock (like boons), or just allowable when starting communities. Outside of that, some sort of anti-cheat. Or modded State of Decay multiplayer, versus no-mod. Like how Vermintide 2 did it.

On paper a good idea, implementing it would turn it into a 7 days to Die/Minecraft esque limited effort - MORE areas with a far deeper contrustion tree plusd the ability to have more thn 1 base (across maps - that have basic time related developmets (ie you leqave some guys to look arter tha place - do it right, they survice, do it wrong and you've invested the area almost bey0ondf recovery would add such variety to the game, a choice you dont need to take but if you want to tailor your difficulty via youir gameplayu choices... key word - immersion.
The last game ANY developer should take notes on is 7 Days To Die, unless its how to make a p!ss poor excuse for a game. 6 years its been in Alpha & its still a damned mess, After each update you have to start a new game, If you're save hasn't been corrupted already.

Sorry about the rant but 7 Days To Die is one of the worst games in history

Well I was using 7Days to Die as a "what not to do" for SOD3. aka Open World - open world would ruin the game unless well add had top tier hardware.

Open world wouldnt ruin anything. So many games are open world now days that won't have anywhere near the budget that sod3 has.

I think there are many good suggestions here, but one thing is going to very important for UL when they make SoD3 - to not make the game clunky and complex.

For instance, making the Enclaves more dynamic and interactive, realistic and an active AI that you could even run into as you loot a building. That would be fantastic, of course - the more immersion the better.

The problem emerges when you have played through the game a couple of times. If that interaction includes long speaches, cutscenes and a dozen mini-stories before you can get what you want out of them, the gameplay will be very clunky. You would be frustrated and bored out of your mind, like if you have to finish the Zombie Trapper enclave's long and windy questline every time you want to recruit someone.

Another example is the weather; if starlit and moonlit nights are brighter than they are today, but rainy and cloudy nights are as dark or darker, then many players will only do looting and missions near the Base when it rains at night because it's that much more risky. This diminishes the pick-up-and-play value, which is quite frankly what makes this game as successful as it is.

The simplicity and task-based gameplay is SoD's greatest strength, and adding more story to the core gameplay in SoD3 would be a mistake.

lol a lot of games are successful precisely because they do the things you're saying they should not do. You're not half as smart are you think... more choices as far as enclaves would not make things clunky. In fact they're extremely clunky as it is now, given the player doesn't even have the option of friendly fire. Right now the AI are god like beings that don't take dmg from the player unless you threaten them, and wait 20 more seconds for their god mode to be turned off. To suggest more AI options would make things clunky? gtfo man that is so absurd it's unreal. The AI is about as basic as an AI could get, it's in the basement and you're suggesting any improvements would make it fall out of the window. There is only up from here in so far as the AI is concerned. And also, the weather controlling when players do looting? Bro you're projecting ur personal opinions and experiences wayyyy too much. People just want weather. There are many worse games, some far worse games, that pull off weather and have a much better atmosphere. SOD2 does not even have a sun in the game. Compare that to generation zero, a single fps that's overall quality is beneath that of SOD2, but that looks and runs 1 billion times better. Like achieving a good literal atmosphere in a game with fun weather should not be hard to do in a game. It's 2020. Games like generation zero that fall short in so many areas somehow manage to have great atmospherics (excellent gusting winds, great storms with realistic thunder, snowfall, awesome haze, etc etc) so there is no reason that a group of intelligent developers shouldn't be able to make weather work in SOD2.
Protectron 2020 年 9 月 3 日 下午 1:41
Yeah if you read my post again, I am not talking about not improving the AI, or not implementing weather. It just has to be done with care.

State of Decay 2 is a great game but I want to see in 3rd one fully working coop, I want to play with my GF coop where we are surviving together, one community, shared storage and so on, I dont want her just to join in and be passenger.

The one main thing I wish that they would change is the preset bases. This is the one area of the game that drives me insane. The player should be able to make a base anywhere and they should be allow to build walls and structures where ever they want as long as they have the knowledge, resources and tools to do so. there is an indie game called Survivalist. It is a fun game but it is lacking because is made by a single person as a passion project, but the one thing they did get right is the base building aspect and farming. Undead labs should check out that game on steam (the first one, not the second one that is in early access) and see how the base building and farming works in that game and try to build something similar for SOD 3.

The only other thing I wish that was possible is that the AI group members can drive vehicles. It is annoying when you have to leave a car behind on the other side of the map because you don't want to ditch the one you already have. That and for raiding parties it would be amazing to be able to order a AI group member to driver a stocked full vehicle back to the base while you continue to scavenge.

That is all. Other than that I love SOD 1 and 2. I just hope they keep up the great work and support!

more weapons - more weapon mods and bullets

JHP - FMJ etc

there is more than just a 7.62x39 there is also the 7.62x52 - 7.62x54R

mods meaning barrels short - long

Night vision? since the lighting in SOD 2 sucks pretty badly you are using a horrible light source that hardly provides any actual lighting.

Or and at least allow flash lights to be attached to weapons and use that as well

I mean you can search military installations should be able to obtain these.

Even make craft them.

weapons

more AK variants example AK-103 AK-74 (5.45x39)

even the Israel Galil AR - ARM and SAR

or and the Italian Bernardelli galil AR/SAR

the Vietnam AKM-1

or even some of the british weapons as well

Huge list of things that can be added and why.

Better base setup - be able to remove and clean debris out of base and actually be able to use more space instead of seeing clutter around.

And being able to actually expand on storage such as use boxes to place ammo etc

And also MRES would also be nice to see SOD 2 lacked just as much as SOD 1 did.

when you go around searching stores you'd find bottles of water etc etc

military rations - MRE (meal read to eat)

And since they got the WWII stuff in SOD 2 if they are going to carry it over why not add in more WW II stuff? like the C - K - D rations?

I mean A and B rations are still being used today why not add those into the game

and add FSR (First strike ration) into it as well?

And that is all I am going to say

Better mid and late game progression. Early game is scavenging, mid and late is moving bases (in general sense). Furthermore, in most cases, everyone builds the same things which means not all building are being utilized. Same goes for weapons (grass cutter for instance). Remove the boon system, which would make water and electricity actually a valueble game mechanic.

Just in general, make things actually have a purpose and useful (shooting range), not just a nice thing to have. In the end, you are in a state of decay.

the boon system is awesome. It makes the game worth replaying

Agreed! One of the better aspects of the sequel. Hopefully they carry it over to the 3rd game
