Tried both of these, still not working. From a week of research and fiddling with everything, my PC settings are as it should be. My friends PC even mimics mine as far as settings and permissions and everything else go and yet, no dice.
The only reason I refuse to believe that I have something wrong on my end is that a gaming company owned by Microsoft hasn't fixed a major issue across the board. Reddit and the Microsoft website have shown multiple people having this issue. Plus literally every single multiplayer game I have works just fine. This is the only game that has this issue.
EDIT 1: I have never experienced an error code 03. I literally cannot create a session. I cannot join someones game through the radio command. I cannot join any invites from my friend. When I invite him, he gets stuck on a loading screen loop for 30 min because it cannot create a session on my end. Its the most bizarre thing I have ever seen
but also a TONS of ppl play the game without problem, my guess is that maybe you have a driver outdated, or whatever thing that just go in conflict with the game :(
because i mean if its the game that actual refuse to work problem on your PC, i guess maybe ask for a refund ? because i doubt that microsoft will ever do something about it :(
I agree and disagree with you at the same time. Mainly disagree with the "many ppl have this issue (is that so ?)". Brother a simple 'State of Decay 2 multiplayer doesn't work' search on google, youtube, or reddit will shed light on this mass problem. It probably is an issue with a driver? I honestly don't know. I honestly feel after two years and an actual known fix is not found is just baffling. I should request a refund, but I'm slightly over the 2 hour mark from opening and closing the game to try and make it work. Part of me doesn't want to though.
I love this game. I just want it to work for everyone (but mainly myself for selfish reasons lol)
EDIT 1: Another side note, I'm not some guy complaining on a thread and bashing the game. I have been in contact with the support team for the past three days. We're currently trying everything that we can. If a fix does come through, I will happily post it to help others in need.
nothing selfish there xD clearly agree with you this game can be super addicting ^^
really hope youll find a solution at your problem :(
The more info you can provide the better it is.
As i do not know what you have done and not. I am just going to throw some obvious first step help/idea for network checking when something with network do not work.
You should see from xbox app and in windows 10 settings -> xbox-network, if you are connected to Xbox-live service and Xbox live multiplayer mode. From here you also see if your NAT is open or closed.
From here you also see if you have a server connection or not.
If all this are ok, than the system at least are working as it should.
You can move your focus to other area instead.
I know from when i get Xbox-live service and Xbox live multiplayer mode is off it is not from my side. This have to do with heavy load or some other problem/maintenance on their network, This is normally fixed by itself after some time.
There is also a status check on internet for xbox system at
https://beta.support.xbox.com/xbox-live-status
Being in contact with customer support has had me attempt damn near everything.
I have checked my Teredo settings, restarted IPv6 settings, I am connected to Multiplayer servers and such through Xbox Live, NAT is open and I am connected. Port forwarding done. Validated steam files. Maybe a couple more, but I honestly don't remember.
Anything you can think of that I might have missed? Thanks in advance.
From what i read there should not be any problem for you to join or host a game.
You have all them needed services and programs running without problem.
You have check your xbox-live status and all are ok.
You have check you Firewall and Router, all work as it should work.
My wild guess are this. You have at some point done something somewhere and you have forgot about that. Perhaps a check off/on somewhere. It is not rare this happens. :)
You most likey have read this and done the steps but here it is again just in case you have missed it.

Some settings must be done with administrator rights, otherwise it will not change the settings. It is recommended when you have done any change, restart your computer.

I am scratching my head as the ms support most likely did :)
i couldn't connect til my friend invited me on steam list.
simple list is have multiplayer on. connect to xbox account. start and hit esc to see invite tab on left side.
the xbox friends list disappears alot.
as for the guy that says they have no problems so theirs 100% no problems. just check the forums for all the multiplayer problems and even the devs talk about it on stream.
After latest patch, yes multiplayer works fine here
