Question about offline mode

So I understand you need an xbox account and all that to get the game to run and I've had no major issues so far. Net went out a bit last night and was going to play SOD2 a bit since I kept reading posts saying it'll play fine offline. But low and behold I kept getting a "Invalid Xbox Account" error when trying to play. Tried steam in offline mode and got the same thing.

So are there specific steps you need to do to enable offline play with the steam version or what am I missing here? Asking this now just for in the future.

try this

1) Log in to your Microsoft Store with the profile that owns the game;
2) In the upper right corner, click on the “...” and select Settings;
3) Scroll to Offline permissions and toggle it to “ON”;
4) While connected to the internet, open the game at least once;
5) Disconnect your internet and you should be able to play offline;

Ya I currently enabled that setting with the account I login to the game with. I randomly got it to work one time but I have no clue how. So its confusing to say the least.
