Heartland - Tactics?
First off, i'm more of a relaxed gamer, i don't necessarily look for a big challenge and am easily frustrated if i have the feeling a game treats me unfair.

With that being said, are there any tips/tricks you guys have for getting further in heartland?
I'm at the thrid plague wall, and i feel that the game is just trying to troll me.
Once i start damaging the wall, a plague feral spawns, about 10 or so normal zombies and i also got a sceamer and bloater.

While trying to damage the wall, i constantly evaded (or tried to) attacks from zombies, and specials.
I managed to kill the feral (and some normal zombies) that first spawns, but whaddayaknow a new one spawns pretty instantly, so no real sense in fighting zombies if they constantly respawn i guess (was the same with the second wall, where a juggernaut constantly spawned).

Also, there's not much space to run around and nothing (as far as i have seen) to climb up to and get a moment to breathe.

So how did you do it? Am i relying too much on my machine gun? Should i use other gimmicks more?

I set some mines before, but seeing that the zombies seemed to spawn right around me, that seemed like a waste of time.
I used grenades and/or firegrenades on the wall, to get some more dmaage or damage over time through fire, but it doesn't seem to do a lot of damage (still better than nothing).

I didn't really used firecrackers or radios or something yet.
Do these things reliably attract zombies (specials maybe as well?) so i would have a bit of time in peace to try to bring down the wall?
Any other stuff that might make my life easier or is a sort of "must have/do"?

I really, really, like the game, but the spawns are just...ridiculous imho.
A "git gud" won't help me as well, because i won't ^^

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I'm going to be honest; if you're "managing" to kill a feral then you're running into the situation half-♥♥♥♥♥♥.
My advice would be to build up your guy and come back prepared. I'm talking health, an echo weapon, energy drinks, explosives, whatever you can get your hands on.

If you're looking to build a guy who can take out hordes and ferals without breaking a sweat then I recommend endurance, gunslinger, marathon, an echo revolver and 90 - 120 rounds of that dirt cheap 22. ammo.
You won't be killing any juggernauts with that gun but you will be able to silently decimate ferals, humans and hordes by snapping to headshot after headshot and then run/reload while your stamina regenerates. Provided you are travelling light that is.

Does that help?

Unfortunately, not exactly, but thanks for trying.

The zombies themselves are, mostly, not a real issue themselves in the open world. Unless i'm doing a mistake and run headless into a situation i can't manage.

But when taking down the third plague wall, as far as i know, there is no "silently taking down zombies".
You throw that bloater grenade onto the wall, so it's vulnerable, meanwhile dozens of zombies and also specials spawn around me and attack.
That is the situation i can't really handle.
That's why i'm so frustrated, because overall, it was challenging, but never really unfair (except for some weird spawn ins maybe). But now it's just "trololol we throw dozens of zobmies in your face, try to survive this while trying to take down a plague wall, which also has a timelimit of being vulnerable, noob".

Have you tried activating a snipers tower?

Have you tried activating a snipers tower?

That's probably the kind of tips i need :)
Actually, no i haven't. I never was in a situation like now, so i never used it and forgot about it.
Can you tell me how this works?
I assume when i call it in, i have a certain amount of time that i got some cover shooting?
They probably won't gun down all of the zombies around me, but gradually shoot one, then another, then another?

The snipers tower is a large structure you build at the base. It costs 1 ammo and 1 material to maintain. Ontop of lowering threat and assigning two guards to keep the outside of your base zed free it also grants a new radio command.
This radio command costs influence and when activated grants you a sort of item to use. When used 50. cal shots will hit enemies one by one until they are dead. This effect lasts a couple of minutes and will follow you.

Although the shots are slow and deliberate they will kill ferals and zeds in one shot. They will down a jug in four shots and kill it in five making this invaluable in the early game. You might be saying to yourself "There aren't alot of ways to earn influence in Heartland, I can't even building a trading post." which is true. However, the level 3 lounge presents you will plenty of ways to gain some.

Despite stealth not working in this scenario I do still recommend the setup. However, given the size of your problem I would recommend a 100 round assault rifle in place of the echo revolver to cut down on reload time.

(BONUS TIP: Another tactic that might help; if you have a vehicle you can climb ontop of, like an ambulance, zeds and ferals will be unable to reach you. This may give you the time you need to focus fire on your main target. Does not work on jugs and bloaters for obvious reasons and you WILL need to take them out before they get close.)

If this problem persists I will be more than happy to join your game and gift you suitable equipment although I would require it back once the issue is resolved. With the exception of the masterwork assault rifle, I prefer silent weapons and made it purely out of curiosity.

(snip)

Thanks for this so far. I'll definitely try out the sniper tower command.
I think i'm running around with a silenced assault rifle with 50 rounds in the magazine, if i'm not mistaken.
I do crafted the masterwork assault rifle, but never used it yet, as i also prefer silenced weapons.
But maybe in this scenario it might help.

I need to check if i can find a small car and try to squeeze my way through, but from what i remember, the way is too tight to squeeze through and in the immediate surrounding, i didn't found burned wreckage i could climb on (or anything else for that matter).

These things only spawn once the shield drops, so don't force that multiple times if there are enemies spawned already. drop a wall buster thingy, quickly DPS that 1 chunk down(auto shotgun works well) and then run away to kill the enemies, rinse and repeat. I used fireworks/boomboxes just as I started so I wasn't attacked while I worked on the wall, it works wonders. If you do it in 3 tries(3 chunks of HP) you only get 3 spawns.

So if i'm fast enough with getting one of health bars down, the zombies shouldn't respawn, as long as i don't throw another wall buster grenade?
I'll check that, cause i had the feeling that they still do, at least from the wall before.
Do fireworks/boomboxes also attrack special Zombies? Or just the normal ones? I'll try to use them too and see if it gives me the time i need then.

A batch of zeds spawns as soon as you throw the wall buster, but if you remove that chunk of HP in a single wall buster you basically reduce the amount of zeds you get in total.

They do unless said special spawns right next to you, but you can also have a follower AI who will then take the aggro of them, so you can still focus on the wall. On 3rd wall I placed firework/boombox by that tent area, so they all went there, generally once you know the spawns you just want to place the decoy away from it, so they don't spot you near the wall.
