Then I use 1 Heavy Vandito to go looting, a Road Mangler if I need to get somewhere far away, helping out someone or getting rid of infestations on the other side of the map for example.
And then I have 1 vehicle for emergency situations (if the others for some reason are no longer usable) and 1 Van which I only store rucksacks of stuff I have too much in my storage.
If theres only 2 vehicle spots I usually get the Vandito and the Mangler, or the versions of them before they are upgraded.
I've heard similar to this a lot before, but i always seem to be out and about when I get urgent calls, typically meaning I either use a small vehicle always so I can quickly get around, or use something in between like I am currently.
As for cars of choice. Necessity. Do you drive a lot around the map to help others? Get a fast car with moderate storage cap and don't forget emergency fuel and toolkit. I'm using customized Wichita and Kaisers.
Do you cleanse a lot of infestations? Get a well armored heavy car.
Do you loot a lot of houses and other sites? Get a van or a customized version with the largest trunk you can get.
Also, you could repair and fuel up cars you find along the roads, so that you always have emergency vehicles. Accidents happen.
When put it like that it makes an awful lot of sense.
I've currently got the trail beast and military vehicle, the latter just holding excess supplies.
I'll definitely be nabbing a maxamilian when I come across it though in my current game... gotta love a muscle car, regardless of how useful they are!
I don't. I did on my first base, one time and kept some upgrade car tools on a survivor for next community. A kind of minimum stock. But since this time, I always buy upgrade with traders. Repair kits are made in workshop so I don't feel legit to keep the auto shop.
Never felt the need to have the shop, seems a waste of a spot.
Kaiser is my 2nd choice if I have it. Same as the above, but it's faster.
To start out though, I'll just run through whatever Rhames V are available. Repairing as needed but ultimately they are going to get junked once I find the ones I want.
I haven't found much use for an auto shop though. They give a durability bonus or whatever, but repair kits are easy enough to craft in an emergency, and traders usually have them for me if my stock gets low. Finishing the Car Mechanic questline makes this easier too since they will stock them up for cheap.
I do make sure I have a muscle/sports car available later on though, for those times I either want, or need, to go Feral hunting. It feels so good to watch them attempt to dodge and get splattered on my windshield.
spikes on the front, decent trunk, alrighty max speed and acceleration, nice handling
#2 Impaler (upgraded Legendre)
spikes on the rear, good speed, pretty nimble
(Spikes make easy work out of Ferals. Basically free influence on Nightmare.)
#3 Trail Beast (upgraded Vagabond/Desperado)
"Roads? Where we're going we don't need... roads."
#4 Maximilian / Mega Max
Love Muscle Cars
#5 Smashwagon (upgraded Pilato)
Good for everything
Honorable Mention: Survey "You can run, but you can't hide, ♥♥♥♥♥!" Car
...Car hobbyist trait.
Zedbuster and Impaler aren't like any other car tho.
No need to drive them over. No need to get out of the car and waste ammo.
Hear a gang of ferals? Just show them the front/rear of the car and drive slowly/park.
They will happily commit suicide. Car won't take any damage.
#2 Brogan Trekker for that storage space and half decent handling. Plus its small size to get in and out of places.
The Road Racer is fun /w a Driver and do quick bounty pickups or easy missions with.
I'd like to try the SUV Ranger more if I ever come across one. Good handling.
I haven't really come across much variety. Maybe if I find a good off road vehicle. I haven't tried the big boss or the largest storage space car /w follower. I usually go solo most of the time.
