Question about Steam and Microsoft versions of SoD2
I own SoD2 on the Microsoft Store. If I were to buy SoD2 on Steam at any point in the future, would my saved data between the Microsoft Store and the Steam version be linked?

I figured I'd need to buy it to play it on steam. I was just curiously as to whether my saved data would be linked between the two versions.

Thank you.

According to their latest stream, no.

Save Games from Xbox/Mircrosoft Store don't come over to Steam.
Our unlocked Outfits do come over to Steam.
No clue about Prestige Points, our Survior Pool and the Legacy Boons.

Well that's kind of silly.
I'm pretty confident there's a way to transfer save files since you can already modify them.

That's what I was thinking. So either way, it's not the end of the world.

Doesn't AoE2 do it through that Xbox Live account thing?

Can you pinpoint the exact time when they said so? I can't find it, only that it will be crossplay and that you don't get a steam version of game (ofc) but nothing about the game saves.

@DOOM Yeah I tried looking through the latest stream too but there's no way I'm going to sit through like an hour of them streaming.

Okay. So the save games won't carry over automatically. I'm pretty sure it'd be be possible to manually transfer the save games from the Microsoft store to Steam though, right?

@Copy Orange Thanks! Well, that sucks :winter2019sadyul:

@♩♫Shade♫♩ I hope so, since I have a lot of favorite survivors and don't want to start all over again, only the time will tell, but I have my doubt since he said "There wasn't a way for us to make it work"

Btw. Do you guys know if Prepper's and Doomsday pack will be available at all?

For those who don't want to bother with the video, the Q&A goes like this:

"So <some username> wants to know: 'Can I transfer my save from XBox One to Steam?'

"Ah, so, there's a few things that do carry over. Ah, like your outfit unlocks - account level unlocks like that? Um, those - those cross over, but your save games do not. So, uh, if you have - if you bought the game through the Microsoft store or you're playing it on Xbox, uh, and you decide you want to go buy it on Steam then your save game will not carry over. You will be starting over uh with, with new characters. There, there wasn't a way uh, for us to make that work."

So that implies to me that the userfiles have been moved. I cannot imagine they're actually stored differently, though, so it seems like a determined person would be able to find a way to move their saves. They currently live over at "~AppData \ Local \ Packages \ Microsoft.Dayton_8wekyb3d8bbwe \ SystemAppData \ wgs". I'd think they need to go in the Steam directory with a Steam install, as usual. The only thing I can see going terribly wrong is if they are somehow bound to a user ID. Can different users load each others saves now?
