Just open up the taskmanager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and kill the process for Aliens, then start the game again.
I also got that the first time.
1.Exit steam.
2.Go to your " steam " folder.
3.Go inside of " appcache " folder. (Delete all, what's inside of it).
4.Inside of steam folder find file named " AppUpdateStats.blob " and " delete " it.
5.Start steam.
6.Let Aliens: Colonial marines update. Start game. Everything should be fixed now.
Good luck!
i have 2 steam directory because of disk space and i reinstall the game for my first (original) steam directory and works for now
