DON'T REINSTALL!!!

Just open up the taskmanager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and kill the process for Aliens, then start the game again.
I also got that the first time.

Hello! I hope this will fix your issue,as it fixed mine!

1.Exit steam.
2.Go to your " steam " folder.
3.Go inside of " appcache " folder. (Delete all, what's inside of it).
4.Inside of steam folder find file named " AppUpdateStats.blob " and " delete " it.
5.Start steam.
6.Let Aliens: Colonial marines update. Start game. Everything should be fixed now.
Good luck!

I'm still having this problem. The ACM executable dies after loading up about 23 meg into memory. Game played earlier today, I have rebooted since then and done everything in the list.

This is exactly what I'm getting.
Pagantek Feb 12, 2013 @ 12:19pm
Bump. Can't play.
Pagantek Feb 12, 2013 @ 2:02pm
Bump Again, This is getting ridiculous, pages of DON'T BUY GAME and refund and crap, but nothing offering further fixes for people that cant even play it.

This problem isn't with the missing exe, which the appcache problem fixes. This is something else entirely. There is apparently a launch patch according to sega and I'm wondering if it didn't go through for some reason. Haven't had much luck trying to find someone who solved this. If I find any more info I'll post here.

We aren't talking about a missing .exe error. We're talking about a "ACM Has stopped working" crash/error. I've done research and nothing posted so far works.

Oh ok, i havent gotten that yet, so im thankful! Sorry for you guys/gals who happened to get it :/

I'm looking close to this thread in hopes of a solution being found.
Unseensanity Feb 12, 2013 @ 3:54pm
Me too allthough I have all but given up. I'm happy that some of the suggested solutions have worked for some but nothing works for me. Just keep crashing at the splash screen with the "game failed to start (app allready running)" error.

I just wanted to be able play the damn game, it just seems to much to ask from devs these days lol

Another very simple way is log off or restart your computer. I get this issue with a few steam games and a quick log off or restart fixes the issue.
