I just went to play ACM and there is no sound either, All drivers and Windows up to date.
I've verified cache around 5 times now, I've even deleted it and re-downloaded it, Checked volume levels, Tried switching Hz and bit rates.
Even tried downloading it onto 3 different computers, 2 running Windows 8.1 and the other running 7.
I'm completely stumped TBH, this is the only game out of the 400+ in my library that has problems.
Nope.
As I said I've tried on 3 different computers, All 3 run games like Crysis 3, Battlefield 4, GTAV, AC: Unity brilliantly, It's only this game that has a problem.
I was benchmarking my new graphics card a few days ago using Alien Isolation and if you go to "Launch Properties" you input "-benchmark" and it launches the benchmark instead of the game.
Well I accidentally put it into the launch options somehow of Aliens:Colonial Marines and as A:CM doesn't have a benchmark mode it muted the sound and somehow carried over my error to the other computers, Options like this must be account linked.
Anyway I cleared the "Launch Properties" field and now I have full sound :)
Would you explain me how? I'm having the same problem and I want to fix it
Right click on the game in your game list and click on properties, Go to "launch options" and make sure it's blank.
I have sound on splash screens (Sega, Timegate, Nvidia), but once I reach the "Press Any Key To Begin", there is no more sound. This started to happening +/- 1 or 2 years ago.
(With some luck, my PC has dual-boot Windows 10 and Ubuntu 22, and I managed install and play with sound on Steam + Ubuntu, But the Windows 10 version has become "dead silent", even after using the Steam file integrity check feature).
