Anyway, they already got the money, so what the heck.
It likely got fixed when Microsoft bought them.
Even if it does not make any money they could have 1 person look at any old game and test out those typo fixes and give better quality of life to the customer as sign of good will maybe that will cause people to more likely buy your stuff.
Some games Like RE5 were broken for like a decade for many ppl cause Windows live service went offline.
For some you had to use unofficial patches to make the game working.
So most billion+net worth companies do not give a flying F about the consumer.
They already have your money.
In case of Colonial marines games runs fine but there are 1 or 2 letters with typo in the game AI code that causes the aliens to become much dumper so they more likely just charge at you.
So with AI fix that takes 1 min to set up game is much better.(and slightly harder).
But afaik some CEO likely used money meant for Colonial marines to Develop Borderlands 2 and he got away with it.
There were lots of lawsuits back then as this game was ultra hyped......
Now I just look at Homeword 3.
(where my "negative"feedback from Demo got me permna banned)
Not sure where Gearbox will be going with their games......
If it's not fixed by yourself or via mod, your version isn't running fine - Unless you really wanted a super easy game where you are overpowered because of a bug. It would be totally different because the xenos do almost nothing without this typo fix because its function doesn't exist.
The config entry isn't used in the game's code at all. Correcting the typo has no effect.
People report that it fixes AI due to a placebo effect.
I don't think he'd outright lie about it; but I imagine he hasn't personally tested or verified this and is relying on what his team has told him. And that's the same team that let the bug slip through QA and into release.
On the other hand I tested this with the TemplarGFX fix installed. I guess it could've been the mod that altered Xenos AI not that typo correction
* the typo was only fixed in the 6th release of the overhaul mod
* there's a message from (I think) the maintainer mentioning that config value with the typo only really matters when adjusted along with 3 other config values
Then again there's also many messages in the discord from folks who apply the typo fix, with no obvious guidance not to bother.
I guess there's no alternative than to re-install the game and test it again myself....
I made a thread here:

Very comprehensive. Not sure if this settles the matter but still the most empiric analysis I've seen so far. Many thanks!
