Tried every solution in existence, game still doesn’t launch
I’ve tried running in admin mode
Tried changing unicode/language/region
Tried verifying, restarting, restalling (4 times)
Tried changing drive
Tried downloading the Overhaul mod

And still nothing works. What do I do????

Ok, first uninstall the game instead of verifying, then go to your documents folder here: C:\Users\yourpcname\Documents\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame and delete the pecan game folder. Then reinstall and try. If this doesn't work, check your graphics card drivers are up to date and capable of running games. You can also force A:CM to run in direct x 9 which is it's native setting. In Steam find A:CM and right-click it, then select "Properties"
Under the General Tab, click "Set Launch Options" and a dialog box will appear, Type in -force-d3d9 and click "OK" the game will now use direct X 9.0, try that. What are you PC Specs?
Also don't use the overhaul mod until you have unlocked all of the gear and as many achievements as you wish, as it can cause some not to trigger.

I have an 3600, MSI Radeon RX 580

Yes it’s up to date. I tried setting launch options, that didnt help. I’m trying the first solution, but am 99.9% sure it wont work. I also tried another solution by adding .old to both Pecangame and binaries and that didnt work either

Okay so I just followed your instructions and they didn’t work. Please help

Also have you checked your log file to see if there's any error messages? In addition check to make sure all redistributable's are installed there's usually something in the steamapps game folder i haven't got the game currently installed.

Yeah I downloaded the redistributable in the folder, and whenever the game crashes, a new crash report shows up in the binaries folder.

Also what do I write if I have a MSI Radeon RX 580 in the link you provided?

'Go to: "\...\My Documents\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Logs"

Look for the following in the logs:

[0000.33] Log: GPU stats:
[0000.33] Log: VendorID: 000010DE
[0000.33] Log: DeviceID: 00001189
[0000.33] Log: DriverVersion: 9.18.13.1396
[0000.33] Log: DeviceName: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670

For the GTX 670 the line to be added to the compatibility files should look like: 0x1189=5,NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 (make sure =5)

Then to: \...\Steam\steamapps\common\Aliens Colonial Marines\Engine\Config\BaseCompat.ini

Add your card to the bottom of either the NVIDIA, or AMD lists.

And finally to: \...\My Documents\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Config\PecanCompat.ini

Add your card to the bottom of either the NVIDIA, or AMD lists.'
Your looking for the details of your AMD card then add to mentioned files.

Note how it says '0x1189' look at the end of DeviceID last 5 digits. Observe how the rest of the structure in the ini file is and repeat but with your cards details.

Can you open the crash log and copy paste any obvious error messages?

You see on the BaseCompat list how at the bottom of the AMD cards it says
0x9710=3,ATI Radeon HD 4200

Put a new entry directly below that with your details where the digits are what you got from the log file but with the x splitting the 0 at the start, pretty much replicate what you see in the other entries but with your cards details. I think =5 is a detail setting, =0 may disable. In anycase let us know how it goes. Im iffy that it'll solve your problem but it helps.

The crash logs come out as MDMP files, opening with Notepad++ just shows a bunch of black squares

Also when I enter the PecanGame folder and thereafter Logs, none of what that thread is mentioning is there. There’s just a bunch of DMP, and txt files such as

pecan-v486805578
UE3AutoReportDump
Launch

plus a billions backups of those three files?

What does your most recent Launch log file say? It should be openable with notepad. If there's any error messages they should be near the bottom of the log txt.

The video card compatability file is called PecanCompat & BaseCompat
located under
Documents\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Config &
\Steam\steamapps\common\Aliens Colonial Marines\Engine\Config

The Compatability file under \My Games may not be there yet due to not having a successful game launch yet. Just ocured.

If you still have the overhaul mod installed might be an idea to remove then try again. Verifying files should do the trick. Also try running game as admin, that's directly with the exe.
Steam\steamapps\common\Aliens Colonial Marines\Binaries\Win32\ACM.exe
Right click, run as administrator.

I should say, the overhaul mod isn't a fix to make the game work it only improves aspects of the game such as Alien AI. If you have too, do a full reinstall unless your on capped data.

Whats needed is error messages.

Ok so I’m an idiot at this point, but I opened the txt in config and a bunch of graphics cards showed up except mine. However I’m not sure how to find the correct name for my graphics card. If I gotta add Radeon infront, or just add RX580 and where to do so

Also those options as admin and verifying I mentioned at the start that I’ve tried that several times :)

What i cant work out is why you haven't tried opening Launch.Log and checked it to see if it displays any error messages near the end of the log when the game was crashing. Also you can find your graphic card details in the log file, unless it didn't get that far. It looks like this
[0000.74] Log: DeviceID: 00001287
[0000.74] Log: DriverVersion: 26.21.14.4587
[0000.74] Log: DeviceName: NVIDIA GeForce GT 730
[0000.74] Log: DriverName: nvd3dum.dll

You do know how to use search in notepad apps right :D

sigh, left ctrl F
Well that's how it works in standard notepad dunno about notepad++

The backed up files is something the game seems to do its prob for error reporting purposes.

I think the admin trick is mostly for getting past the game restart loop on exit. Its good practice to run steam in admin mode as well solved many problems with that in the past. Sorry perhaps i should of mentioned Launch.log earlier haha. Sometimes i assume all gamers on steam have been using computers for 30 years.

Also, regarding your other solution linked, as the person suggested renaming d3d9 which is located in binaries/win32.... Such a file doesn’t appear in my folder. So I downloaded the file, tested: didnt work. Renamed it accordingly: still the game repeatedly closes and opens

These are the last entries in the two configs. I do not know entirely which ID to add before my graphics card, if you could help

It looks as if the game isn't detecting your video card, because its not displaying the cards device ID in the launch.log its going to be difficult to work that out. Very strange. Forcing the game to run in DX9 mode shouldn't make much difference. There's few clues in the log file. Renaming the .dll file is related to the overhaul mod so if you left it installed it may of fixed it.

I'll show you what my launch.log output looks like

A few details removed for privacy. I made a number of changes to the PecanEngine config as well, but that's mostly visual i was tweaking graphics settings my install launched fine on vanilla with no changes. The next entry where your log stops is Initializing Steamworks so im not sure what that means. You say its a new desktop build in which case there shouldn't be any sort of corruption. If you are indeed running windows 10 that would be another thing to look at, many games have issues with windows 10. If you've got windows 7 installed you may need to look at getting some updates installing depending on if you've got service pack one edition installed and how new the installer is. I use Windows 7.

The fact its creating DMP files is good they are possibly Unreal Engine error reports. I'll see if their viewable in some way. Check UE3AutoReportDump copy paste whatever it says here. Good experience for ya anyway, comes back quick enough hehe.
