The biggest BUG in this game is just a single letter spelling error?
(This article came from Templars overhaul mod page on Moddb. com and helped me enjoy this game MUCH more)

A typo found in the INI file after all this time appears to be one of the major causes for terrible AI mechanics in the game. Thankfully typo's are easy to fix!

Inside your games config file (My Document\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Config\PecanEngine.ini) is the following line of code :

ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether -> PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTeather

Im sure you'll notice the spelling mistake

ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether -> PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTether

If you fix it to look like the above and then play the game, the difference is pretty crazy!

Why is this line important? There are two reasons :
1) AttachXenoToTether doesn't do anything. Its basically empty or stripped
2) AttachPawnToTether does ALOT. It controls tactical position adjustment, patrolling and target zoning

When a Xeno is spawned, it is attached to a zone tether. This zone tells the Xeno what area is its fighting space and where different exits are. In Combat, a Xeno will be forced to switch to a new tether (such as one behind you) so as to flank, or disperse so they aren't so grouped up etc. (*disclaimer* this is inferred opinion, I cant see the actual code only bits)

Whenever the game tried to do this, nothing happened. Now it does! (Easy A.I fix)

Interesting, thanks for sharing! Kind of sad that it was missed by the devs, it shows how little love went into the game. I'm guessing it made its way into the console versions too, which is crazy.

Still, it's quite authentic visually & sound-wise (I purposely don't upgrade the M41a pulse rifle so it has the same movie sound!) and I've spent a number of hours on the Bughunt Tribute map as a result. It does feel like my favourite film. Kind of...
Does this work in a coop campaign? If the host has fixed it, will the Ai behavior will change or it need to be fixed by both?

If both players have changed the ini file to correct the mistake yes the A.I is fixed in co-op

Yeah and the creators of the game still insist there is nothing wrong with tthe game. There is also a way to activate a lot of the nice graphics shown in alpha versions that were turned off in the final product. I loved this game but it needed a lot of polish.
Amazing, I am currently playing a coop campaign as we both have done the fix and it works perfectly.

Is that way the Templar Fx Overhaul? If not which way?

Yes Templar has put some of these settings back "ON" and included a lot of work to add to the graphics. I tend to get problems booting the game with his mod so this A.I fix and graphics settings helped me fix the game without modding it.
Cool! Besides the setiting that the mod turned back on, which have you manually enabled?

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=127541833 I just researched it and edited the settings config a bit. Check it out

No after installing and starting game for the first time the CUSTOMER has to go into the config files and FIX the developers spelling mistake. otherwise the a.i behaviour is very poor.

Just reinstalled the game, found that exact typo like you mentioned.

Wondering just how much this game has been held back by all it's minor flaws in the code, graphics etc. they should release a love day patch and fix the game once and for all time.

PS: Played for an hour and there is a remarkable difference in Xeno behaviour (Without Templar Mod), they are more coordinated now than ever before. One would think these aliens just became self aware!

Note: Beware TemplarGFX overhaul V5 mod also contains that typo mistake.

Cool! I dunno why i didn't think about that. Im sure the templar mod will be very impressive WITH the typo fixed since he also tweaked the a.i and damage i think

Have the Templar mod installed now. Can say for sure, Prepare yourself for a surreal nightmare unleashed by these Xenomorphs! I got nailed from so many angles and tactics they used, literally crap myself figuratively. :steamhappy:

PS: I locked myself in the closet with a pair of diapers, that's how scary things gotten. :steammocking:
